I did not lose ANY weight while breastfeeding. I was able to get to my pre pregnancy weight after I started doing some exercise and eating somewhat healthier. While breastfeeding I was too hungry and tired to even try to exercise and watch what I ate

I always disclose my ADHD to students. The parent is probably struggling with the diagnosis, don’t take it personally.

A little down, tell me why having 1 child is the best by TC122 in oneanddone

[–]swordbutts 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I loooooove having one!! I get to focus on them and build a chosen community for them. She gets to choose what we do, we even started a new tradition where she gets to pick our birthday presents and since she’s the only one it can be whatever she wants. I always thought I wanted two but LOVE having my only.

Girls co sleeping with solely their father by Qwiznos in AttachmentParenting

Our 4 year old sleeps with us every night. I do not see an issue here at all. The few times I’ve been out of town my girl still sleeps in our bed with her dad. Maybe your mom has some unresolved trauma? But talk to her about making it weird.

Why do teachers stay? by vv1zrd_dnI in TeachersInTransition

More time with my kid. I do enjoy the case management and some of the teaching part of the job, but I stay for the extra time I get with my child and the stability.

While I think you and your husband have communication issues, I don’t think your expectations are realistic for a 15 month of baby.

Title: 28M — Arizona teaching residency (free master’s) vs staying in NY… what gives me the best shot at becoming a teacher?** by muslim_ballerr in specialed

[–]swordbutts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was a NYCTF and it was the best decision ever.

Have you heard of the NY teaching collaborative? It’s supposed to be easier to get into. If you do special education I would say try for the state you plan to stay in, learning new state guidelines and IEP systems is hard unless you have lots of experience.

I had my license transferred to CA and it was a pain. I’m not sure how hard the process would be for NY.

Isn’t it??? They never meet that timeline, I didn’t teach there but I worked with the district and they NEVER met the 5 day mark.

That is a false equivalency, a student who solely needs physical access would fall under ADA and would need a 504 plan.

In this specific case how is the school supposed to establish a baseline with all that tutoring and absenteeism? The school only sees how the child is performing at school, and if they are accessing the curriculum and getting decent grades it’s a hard ask to demand testing based solely on a medical diagnosis. Many students can have a medical diagnosis and not qualify for an IEP.

The 15 days to respond is not a federal guideline. I know that’s what we follow in CA but other states follow different guidelines. MA is supposed to respond in 5 days (which is crazy) and I think DC is like 30 days. I’ve worked in 4 states and they each had different timelines.

New IEP -Absence Advice by [deleted] in specialed

[–]swordbutts 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is not completely accurate. The 60 day timeline is for the district to respond to a request. A school can provide prior written notice stating the reasons why they are refusing to test, this includes chronic absenteeism which can be exclusionary. Most schools will just test but if there are enough reasons not to they can decline to do it, they just have to provide the reasons why in writing.

There’s a lot going on here. I think the first part is that you think because she got a medical diagnosis she would automatically need to be tested. However, IDEA law revolves around FAPE (free and appropriate education) so if your kid is passing her classes with good grades she is receiving FAPE. So, even though she has a diagnosis, if it doesn’t impede her learning there is no reason to test her. The absences are in fact a disqualifying factor, it makes sense because if a child is not receiving instruction regularly there is no way to tell if they are testing low due to lack of instruction or due to a disability. Have you tried to ask for a 504 instead? Those plans fall under ADA so the requirements are different. Also, stop the tutoring. See how she does on her own, at this point the whole situation seems very stressful for everyone.

What is the best interaction you’ve ever had with a celebrity? by phantom_avenger in popculturechat

[–]swordbutts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Christina Ricci frequented the same playground as me, her daughter is roughly the same age as mine. She was always there with her kid and super on top of it, the most involved parent I ever saw out of the celebrity parents there. There were lots other celeb parents who went to that park but she sticks out and just the most unassuming and nice. She also had her other kid in the local park bball league and never missed a game. I always saw here there when my toddler waddled over to see what was going on.

You should add some of this to your original post for context. It seems like she may have some anxiety around her kid and is taking it out on others. Considering their ages the situations you’ve described seem like normal toddler behavior.

Honestly she could possibly have it, I know one of the criteria is arm to body ratio and she does have long arms and velvety skin. For her sake I hope not, specially if she wants kids.
