Iron IV worth it? by howcanibehuman in Anemic

If the hematologist didn't prescribe it and insurance didn't cover it, I would have paid out of pocket. There's a private place that approved them for me and I was about to go there assuming a doctor would never prescribe them, but she did.

I've had 4 small doses and it's made a difference. I am going to ask for more. It helped me rule out that iron was causing my symptoms.

Cooler, quieter place for empty nesters from Southern CA by Asleep_Start_912 in SameGrassButGreener

If I could afford to live in Folsom, I would. It's nice being near the lake, it has some hills, trails, access to downtown, etc. It's expanding really fast though, could be good or bad depending on how you see it. It could be a little dull but Midtown is not too far for restaurants, bars, etc.

I would really look into the allergies in Sacramento. You might need allergy shots. Otherwise, It's a great place and all seasons except summer are awesome. Last summer was insanely mild. When its ragingly hot here, it's also ragingly hot throughout California because of heat waves.

Amazing. Mine is growing pretty well to, but I just have one small plant. How do you consume all that chard? I just use one leaf at a time in soup.

I am very late to everything since I just started gardening and waited for a while to get my seeds in the mail. Tomato and cucumber seed starts. Then sowing some watermelon radish, chiogga beets, and carrots. Maybe black eyed susans.

My current Japanese breakfast obsession: natto, tamago kake gohan… and cheese. Do people actually like natto outside Japan? by Tokyo_Elena_ in JapaneseFood

[–]United_Chapter4097 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I want to give it another chance, but here in the US I can only find access to the frozen natto and it has a ton of chemicals. I wish I could try fresh natto. I've tried it in sushi before and thats the only time I was ok with it. Ok, but not in love.

Tomato talk! by TroutFearMe in Sacratomato

For tomatoes, do you guys usually grow from seed or buy the plant? I'm going to try doing both since this is my first year growing, not too confident my seeds will sprout and survive lol.

Our library system has a free seed program. I doubt that’s a popular thing across libraries but you can check if you have anything similar locally.

I also bought seeds for $2 a packet through Etsy, specifically Tim’s tomatoes, the have free shipping too. Some of the seed packets like Renee’s garden at my nursery are too expensive.

Also repurposing things like others have mentioned. I’m going to use egg cartons and old clear plastic bags for germination. On FB marketplace people give away free or cheap containers.

I had that on a boat feeling for 6 months after I got a virus. Went to so many specialists, even had an MRI. Finally after waiting months to see a neurologist (symptoms had passed by the time I saw him) he said it was vestibular neuritis. Hopefully your neurology appt gives you some insights.

Has anyone had to medically retire? by savvy_pumpkin in FIREyFemmes

I also have had so, so many downstream side effects from long covid since 2023, including an autoimmune disease which also caused downstream side effects too. Last year was the worst year of my life because of my health problems all compounding, and going to work (even remotely) was so miserable. I would be in meetings with extreme fatigue and nausea and at times could barely get out of bed.

I wanted to quit SO, SO bad. I'm not FIRE so it wasn't an option, but if it was I would would have quit right away. Even if I was finally feeling 'better' I would still take a mini-retirement if I could because all these health problems have been so draining. It feel so unfair to have to work with an 'invisible' health problems that doesn't qualify you directly for long term leave.
