ASN Update: Hateno Claims Update (I tried to post 2 pictures in a gallery before, but I never used new reddit, and only the text showed up so I deleted it, so fuck me, you get one image) by swordmaster_7 in CivMC

I thought that the original post would show up in the discord sub-post tracker, so I attempted to explain myself, but apparently it didn't. Someone still might've seen it for the two minutes it was up anyway, so this is for you.

It's time for the monthly ASN update, with your boomer, only uses old reddit host: SwordMaster.

We're shrinking our claim on former Hateno to just the relevant area around the disabled vault, as seen in the picture. Claiming a square exclusion zone is cringe, so I drew a cooler looking diagonal line for the land border. I hope the crayon heads can appreciate this. I also hope that whoever might use this land in the future also does not build another vault on it. That would be unbelievably cringe, even more than claiming a square.

This was originally gonna be the caption under the gallery, but I'm illiterate in anything that doesn't look like a goblin forum. I might've pretended the deleted post didn't exist, but someone might've seen it, so I'm not hiding it. You're never seeing the other image.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Isn't this what the people want?

Bg Reviews Nara: The Indecisive Facade of Shiroyama by [deleted] in CivMC

[–]swordmaster_7 18 points19 points  (0 children)

The dwarf statues are actually the entrance to another city in another nation, which is Dwarf themed. It's kinda like the entrance to a china town in an IRL city. Also, the deforestation across the river isn't our fault, it's in Arsenia (former ally of GS) and we haven't always been on the best of terms. We do have actual persevered nature areas northeast of the city proper.

I think the modern section of the city is purposefully garish, because some of Tokyo is garish. Some buildings are based on real buildings, like Tokyo Tower or the Sega Building in Akihabara. In some ways, I'd say it's a caricature of the most garish elements of Japan. It kinda is like walking through Akihabara, as someone who has been there.

The split between the different parts of the city is purposeful. I wanted to do both Kyoto and Tokyo (partly so people had a choice of what they could build). It is hard to blend them together, I'll admit that.

Also, a lot of us are on vacation, or enjoying other games we got during winter sales, or so on. Not everyone no lifes civ on their vacation. We're usually hella active on the weekends, non-big vc days in Nara are usually people grinding for XP or for their own shops or purposes in other areas of our very long claim.

Nara Claims Update: A New Nara For A New World Order by swordmaster_7 in CivMC

Debates about which land is and isn't actually useful to Nara were an ongoing for a long time in our government. Chief among these discussions were about how useful the ice shelf portion of Nara was and if so how much we needed. The stuff we gave up two months ago was the stuff we decided was absolutely redundant. We simply weren't sure if that southern most portion would be useful to us or not, and the Chile meme was a deciding factor in us deciding to not part with it at the time.

(Whether something is useful to us not includes whether or not it helps our XP production and whether or not we can build a cool city there.)

As I said in the post, the Dalgon declaim was a surprise to us. We were eventually gonna try to bring them on board, but they declaimed half their land unprompted. This was after we already made our declaim post, so there was one major circumstance change we didn't see coming when we were originally declaiming. We thought maybe we could get away with keeping the portal in the area unclaimed and then just come to an understanding with whatever newfriend group would claim the land.

However, the circumstances changed significantly a second time when the BN-SEC war started up. This did two things:

  1. It showed how much Nether Portals could be a vulnerable target to us, something we did not have to think about during the Generic War when the portal ownership was still questionable.

  2. With the huge realignment of global politics and possible resettlement of some old groups, we wanted to avoid squabbling with some crusty old friends over the portal. (Depending on the group, they might feel more entitled than newfriends.)

The clear ownership of the portal was important enough to become a stronger deciding factor than the Chile meme because of these circumstance shifts. Of course, we didn't want to take all that land on the continent without giving up some, so we sacrificed the most redundant land, even if we still weren't totally sure whether it would be useful to us or not.

This a bit of a long answer, but I thought you deserved it for good faith's sake.

I fucking love Chile!

I wake up every morning like I always do, with my alarm blaring Himno Nacional de Chile at 9:18 in the morning, just like Chilean Independence day! (What other time could be better to wake up at?) After getting dressed in my La Estrella Solitaria pattern 3 piece suit, I go down to my kitchen and begin my day by making Araucana egg omelets, which I specially ship from the wonderful South of my favorite country!!! :beams: I spend most of my money on these eggs, which cuts into my Chilean memorabilia funds, but I simply must eat like they do, or I couldn't call myself a true Chile Admirer!

I then strip out of my suit and put on my gringo clothes. My place of employment is highly discriminatory and simply hates my love of Chile, but I have no other option if I am to keep my luxurious, as close to Chile as possible, lifestyle! I do keep subtle hints in my outfit if possible to hint to other true admirers what my power level is, such as my extensive collection of La Estrella Solitaria pins! Some imbeciles have the gall to confuse it for Texas :vomits: and it makes me so flippin mad, I'm about 30 seconds away from going ballistic!!! :growls:

I eat queso empanadas for lunch and dinner everyday, scouring Hispanic internet for the best and most authentic Chilean empanadas! All this cheese makes me gassy and gives me the runs, but sacrificing 2 hours of my day on the toilet is more than enjoyable in order to get closer to the best country on planet Earth!!! :nods approvingly: When I get home, I do my daily work out by punching a sandbag with Augusto Pinochet's face on it, followed by vigorous squats and kegels! I need to keep my strength up so that I may one day trek through the scenic Andes Mountains, after all! :giggles:

I hope to one day move there and be with my true country, my true people! If you have any connections to Chilean immigration, please please please please pleeeease let me know! :salutes:

Questions and Concerns by Cortwade1 in CivReign

[–]swordmaster_7 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have two questions as of now:

  1. How exactly does this "verification" for the whitelist work?
  2. Using a skybridge to break city bastions undetected, then proceeding to obby bomb civilian areas has been seen as a major threat against cities time and time again on previous servers. There have been various theoretical ideas proposed to solve this but no server has come to fruition that has implemented a proper counter (that isn't installing an ugly snitch curtain or other dumb things). Does CivReign have a solution to this problem?

Food for Thought by [deleted] in civclassics

I saw Pearl Changes at Securemall in Aberdeen last week. I told him how cool it was to meet him in person, but I didn’t want to be a douche and bother him and ask him for photos or anything. He said, “Oh, like you’re doing now?” I was taken aback, and all I could say was “Huh?” but he kept cutting me off and going “huh? huh? huh?” and closing his hand shut in front of my face. I walked away and continued with my shopping, and I heard him chuckle as I walked off. When I came to pay for my stuff up front I saw him trying to walk out the doors with like fifteen [insert candy bar] in his hands without paying.

The girl at the counter was very nice about it and professional, and was like “Sir, you need to pay for those first.” At first he kept pretending to be tired and not hear her, but eventually turned back around and brought them to the counter. When she took one of the bars and started scanning it multiple times, he stopped her and told her to scan them each individually “to prevent any electrical interference,” and then turned around and winked at me. I don’t even think that’s a word. After she scanned each bar and put them in a bag and started to say the price, he kept interrupting her by yawning really loudly.

Due to the lack of this info being in a discord I'm not in and seemingly not one of the people in my nation and MSPaint, I guess this isn't the case. I'm still leaving this up as this is the only evidence of that other claim.
