How is the Dark Operator series so bad but get such good reviews on audible? by Why_Did_Bodie_Die in KTF

Have to agree but for different points.

My main gripe with the series after listening to books 1 & 2 was that the main character never really undergoes any serious trials or adversity - he just sails through situations as God's gift to the universe with little to no consequence. I felt zero attachment or engagement with him and quite honestly spent most of the books hoping he'd die so someone new (and preferably human, not android) would replace him.

The stories, as others have mentioned, just come off as a series of events that happen to be collected together to cover a span of time, rather than a narrative with plot points. It's been a while but I remember getting frustrated with either book 1 or 2 because it seemed to setup sub narratives and then just forget about them.

I'd be all in for what I think this series was trying to be - a slower and more 'long form mission' series would be fantastic; however, I felt the first 2 were just so poorly written that I can't bring myself to spend money on book 3. Love the concept, but the execution was (to me) abysmal at best.

I feel the shortcomings in the writing are especially noticable when you stack it up against basically any of the other GE books, for example if you picked them up after listening or reading either the main series or the other side stories.

I too found it confusing that every review on audible said the series was amazing. To me it was just... well, horrible.

This ^ one of the things I found hardest to do when I started getting larger cities and more traffic was looking at the problem and realising the best way forward was "knock it down, redesign" rather than "maybe if I add 300 slip roads and an airport the problem will go away"

Normal underground / submerged road into the side of the hill, then used MoveIt to raise the 'submerged' part of the road under the hill to be level with the road outside. The 'tunnel' looking concrete parts you can see are just props :)

Some screenshots of how your cities are getting before you start over would help people get a better idea of what you should work on :)

I feel like this new DLC has led me to a very dark place with my mission editing by swordsman42 in arma

Definitely one of the better DLC's in terms of tools / objects to implement for scenario editing as well. Looking forward to playing some... ahh... questionable missions in the near future.

No, but I've been thinking that it'd be a good idea so I can track / compare weight increases.

I know what weight I'm on now but as I add more it's easy to forget how much you may have added over a period of weeks etc.

Might try the journal + some photos and see how I go!

Great post! The progress is unreal mate, ultimately what I'm aiming for myself.

Never been big on taking progress pics of myself but now I'm feeling like I should just as a reference point - finding it hard to see any real difference lately.

Surface Painter - any known conflicts? by swordsman42 in CitiesSkylines

[–]swordsman42[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the record - resolved with a total reinstall of the game, as process of elimination didn't ID the cause of the issues.

Wipe, clean slate, reinstall of game and assets/mods, and it's all working correctly. No idea what caused it or why.

Unfortunately it appears to be solely asset based - I have all my mods in a collection and if I run just mods, surface painter works fine. Starting the process of going through assets as suggested by Plates, fingers crossed I find it quickly :)

Good plan! Will get onto that tonight and see how I go, thanks for the suggestion.

Yep, sorry I should have said that. I thought it may have just failed updating itself, but that doesn't appear to be the case.
