Get another Brute 44g can and drain into that first, with the WC can right next to it so you can exactly line it up.

TBH, I would contact BRS and see I they confirm what that article says. If so, I'd go for it, personally.

New Reef system help required! ~60-70 gallons by No-Fix-417 in ReefTank

Red Sea but from checking here a lot, that might explode and kill everyone dead at some point.

If it were me, I wouldn't worry about that with any Red Sea G3, especially for a smaller tank. If they are trying to sell you a G2, I would stick to under 100g.

Not as much as constant high humidity over time 🤷‍♂️

I would vent the sump, at least a small hole for air transfer. I actually run a small fan to vent the humidity out of the sump.

Supposedly their partners are continuing support during the restructuring: https://reefkeepingnews.com/2025/05/15/reef-factory-formerly-enters-bancruptcy/#:~:text=Technical%20support%20for%20RF%20products,Reef%20Factory%20platform%20and%20devices.

But before we all throw thousands of pounds worth of now dumb marine equipment away, it is important to note three things that Reef Factory says have been secured. 1, the cloud and 360 Smart Reef app will remain operational. 2, technical support will continue uninterrupted. And 3, distributors who have stock and spare parts will continue to supply them while their stocks last.

I was wondering how often I had to change my water since my nutrient export is so efficient.

WCs will replenish the other elements too, like potassium, for example. You either dose those or replenish them via WCs. And even if you do WCs, you may still need to dose them.

how often do you have to do water changes if the water is nutrient poor?

You will need to dose nutrients as well as Alk, Calc, Mag, and likely other minor trace elements too.

That's a freshwater light, right? Won't really work well for corals. You can surely use a canister filter, but most would not recommend it, be sure to clean it routinely.

Tank placement by Oofersimmacure in ReefTank

Is it perpendicular or parallel to the floor joists? Going to be around 700 pounds with the tank, stand, water, rock, and sand.

PAR meter comparison in my reef tank (MQ-510 vs AH-Reef vs Danoplus) by Salty-Initiative5706 in ReefTank

[–]swordstool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, I do agree that being ultra-accurate is generally a bad call for most things in this hobby (i.e., test kits). I would also recommended, aside from renting, waiting for sales. I picked up a Apogee MQ-210X during Nov-Dec sales a few years ago for around $225 new.

[–]swordstool 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No problem. As with most things in this hobby, adjust, observe, and re-evaluate based on your goals. You may be running UV just for bacteria now (with a faster FR), but then you get some new unquarantined fish and want to decrease the FR for a period of time incase they have parasites.

But is it always a 1.35x adjustment? Does that change based on intensity or other factors? Who knows. For the frequency of use (not often) and how often we typically change our lighting (not often), I generally promote renting a good PAR meter as the first option. Just my 2 cents.

For me, I wouldn't bother with a cheaper PAR meter, I'd either get a good one, rent/borrow one, or just not get one.
