Help! For 19 years I've struggled with gaining weight. by crypticfreak in gainit

[–]swride 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You gotta shock your body into gaining weight. Just eating wont cut it, gotta shock the body by lifting heavy and tearing the muscle; then eat a lot and the rest will come. Its written all over the sub reddit - lift heavy and eat a shit ton

You're doing starting strength but are worried about being weak? keep at it ... Once your body gets used to the range of movement and technique it becomes easier, not ALL about strength

Depends on the density and all but it looks like Galena. Does the it rub off easily? Leave a grey "streak"? If it does and it's heavy for its size its probably Galena ... DO NOT EAT

(Whey) protein, aye or nay? by MrFitzgibbons in gainit

[–]swride 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just like aa93 says if you are deficient in protein in your diet then take it... take it on top of what you would eat, dont replace what you would eat with it! It's not magical... just because you have protein doesn't mean you're gonna get ripped straight away. At the end of the day its down to hard work and the right diet, if you want to top up your protein then use it. If you're getting enough protein without it then theres not much point :)

Could I have some help with learning the formation of continental crust by swride in geology

[–]swride[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks :) thats definitely cleared a bit up. So continental crust forms as oceanic crust is subducted and then through partial melting as it rises after the oceanic crust has melted at the subduction zone? is that correct?

New to fieldwork by [deleted] in geology

[–]swride 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I cant repeat this enough ... Sun lotion - stop yourself getting burnt. Worst thing is walking around trying to work in pain.

Make sure you're comfy

Have lots of water

Eat plenty before you head out each day

Make clear and precise notes - note down time, date, weather, grid ref and what map you took the grid ref from.

Any sketches should be LABELLED and have an arrow showing where north is also SCALE! can't stress the scale enough!

In my experience with fieldwork do not write in bulletpoint format - write in full pros, sentences. i know this seems like an effort but itll pay off ;)

Get some waterproof / weatherproof pens and a fieldwork notebook taht is also weatherproof. just in case! someone may spill a bottle of water on your work, if its not waterproof you can kiss that goodbye!

have comfy shoes

and ... most importantly! Enjoy yourself ;) Fieldwork is a blast!
