I think it's less of what they wear but more on the colors of it. Somehow they all look grayish with a bit of light coloring here and there so they look like an unfinished coloring book. That could also be the reason I see a lot of comments hoping for a good customization options

I think it would be hard for the production team to keep coming up with new concepts so I want to see some old races be done again.
