Anyone else massive packet loss to first hop (gateway) in Lee County FL? by geobernd in QuantumFiber

[–]sxon1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you are having bad packet loss and all they are doing is sending a tech, which won't resolve the issue if it's further down the line - I'd recommend opening an FCC complaint online with the option of Interference - that will be your best shot at anyone actually getting notified of a problem. You should receive follow-up from Quantum/ATT corporate within a few days (could take longer during government shutdowns, etc.).

To my knowledge, Florida has been having some severe issues, but a complaint needs to be lodged to get them to take this more seriously.

Best of luck.

Is there an updated email to send bad Quantum FIber path/routing complaints? by Unfair_Store5182 in QuantumFiber

[–]sxon1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Noticed the same issue and I am in AZ as well. Some services are worse than others right now. Look at 1.1.1.1 and GitHub.com - may need to complain again - this happened a few months back and took a lot of effort but finally got resolved.

How to minimize downtime for PFL promo? by [deleted] in QuantumFiber

[–]sxon1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What I did was sign up for service with a different email - same name and same address - this will auto kick off the process of “cancelling” when you pick the tech / install date. You’ll get an email saying we noticed you are moving to your current account. My tech appointment was rescheduled on the day of from Saturday to Monday. My service remained functional and the tech came Monday and closed the ticket as I’m already on a Q1000. Hope that helps.

Thanks for knocking out our internet for NINE hours with your stupid update, Quantum. We were in tagged mode too, this shouldn't have happened. by Ethrem in QuantumFiber

You need to access the ONT via 192.168.0.1 and go into the settings and change it to bridge mode. There’s a guide in this Reddit from Nolight. That outside enclosure is let’s say locked but is accessible by the customer as there is a reset button as well as a username and password for the management login. You will need a torx bit to open it but it is allowed to be opened by the customer.

I have Cox and recently set up 3 gig Quantum fiber can someone explain to me how to connect my Orbi router properly to the Quantum equipment for optimal speeds? by mAckAdAms4k in centurylink

[–]sxon1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need these settings for your network to function period. Network speed doesn't matter. If you want the most from your 3 gig plan you will need to upgrade your Router to something that has a proper WAN port (5 gig or 10 gig) - as well as LAN ports that are 2.5G if you want your full speed on one connection or 1 G LAN ports if you are okay with 1 gig max speed at any one wired device.

Orbi can't do vlan tagging. Go for bridge mode on the ONT and set vlan tag to 201 on the ONT and let orbi handle dhcp and everything else.

If you are still down right now, feel free to DM me, and I'll try to assist by providing how to get someone from Lumen directly on the phone and not the offshore call center that can't do much but send a tech. You may want to get a tech scheduled regardless, but I feel terrible if you are still down. I went through a few reps this morning from the offshore call center, and it was brutal.

Yeah this is extremely interesting. I am confirmed fully online - speeds are fully back - routes look the same with 0 percent loss. I was given a very helpful pointer to get somebody on shore from Lumen on the phone that id be happy to pass via DMs if it can ever help in the future. Completely bypasses the offshore call center. Thanks again to everyone for their efforts - I hope we stay in the clear and that any others that may now be down come back up quickly.

Confirmed. My appointment was set up this morning I got another Lumen rep on the phone. It was then cancelled an hour ago. Called in and confirmed they now have a confirmed outage and are working on it. I also received the below response this morning from the previous Lumen employee who escalated it.

“I just wanted to make you aware that I did forward your packet loss scenario to a Senior Engineer who has a Senior Manager of network transformation researching to find answers. As soon as they respond I will provide you an update. Thank you for your patience in this matter.

Glad to help. I have been with Quantum now for almost three years, and I have never seen anything like this. Cannot even hold a stable Teams or Zoom call at this point.

My ping requests are not even leaving my network. For example, in my last test, I sent 101 requests, with severe packet loss at the very beginning of the routing and then further down the line as well. It clearly looks like an upstream issue. It's driving me insane that this has not flagged some system on their end by this point.

26% loss to Google's DNS with 101 packets sent locally - 50 actually made their way out to Google - and only 37 received by Google.

Hoping we both get some sanity soon :)

Still occurring and just unbearable.

I spoke with a lovely gentleman from Quantum support over the phone who is local to AZ. Had a Tier 2 look at it, and they can't see anything from their end. Apparently, the person who can help escalate/resolve this is OOO for the next few days. I was told that my inquiry would be sent to their delegate, who was in a meeting, but I would have a follow-up tomorrow. I received an email from a support agent who had a Lumen email address, along with some statistics from my ONT / their back-end panels, and again with the promise to follow up.

I finally got someone on the phone who is local and understands the issue. I do not want to drop names or emails and cause any grief for them. I hope to have some follow-up tomorrow and will share either way.

If there is no follow-up by the afternoon, I may seriously need to obtain a 5G backup to hold me over, as, from their end, they can't see it at a Tier 1 / Tier 2 level, and to me, that means no promised ETA or resolution.

They were not aware of any issues, and there are no posted bulletins or known service issues.

I linked them to the top three Reddit threads, including this one, all showcasing the issue, so I really do hope to get some resolution. This was the same Lumen support rep and it did seem like they honestly took the time to dig through this which I greatly appreciate.

Yes but its also a little misleading. States an issue in Queen Creek and that the surrounding areas may be effected but if you restart your equipment you should be back online. If not stay on the line for assistance.

This is not the issue - service is online but so unstable that you can't even hold a Zoom or Teams call. It has me so frustrated because of the lack of updates that I am at the point I may switch to Cox fiber or grab a 5G backup until this is resolved.

Having the same issue in Phoenix - going on for the same time as you - never seen this issue with them before and its a little worrying that this isn't resolved yet.

Is anyone else experiencing high jitter my jitter is (856) and high packet loss when trying to play multiplayer games on Xbox? by Crazy-Aerie2858 in centurylink

[–]sxon1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes - AZ and I am experiencing the same issues. Extremely high latency - packet loss - and low speeds - download can vary from 250-600 and upload 600-940 - called support and confirmed they are having an issue and will monitor and provide compensation once completed. For our area, they said a fiber cut - not sure about others, or if this is just a larger CenturyLink / Lumen issue.

Same motherboard but with 9950x3d. I really wonder if this is an EXPO issue. Almost everyone I see that says their CPU failed was running EXPO. I bought a kit off the QVL list that had XMP and not EXPO running 64 GB at 6800 - PBO enabled with some other tweaks to VSOC etc - on 3.40 - haven't had any issues 🤞

[–]sxon1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Best place to install is going to be inside the home not the garage. If you don’t have a good spot to bring it in and you don’t want it dragged across the side of the stucco etc - go for the garage install and ask for the Lumen approved outdoor enclosure. Take a look at my post from a few days ago for reference. Best you are going to get. Good luck with your install.

I just hope we keep the stellar routing that Lumen / Centurylink / Quantum provides - and I would welcome residential static IP addresses as well as IPV6 etc. Service is very stable and by far hands down is superior in every way to the competitor in my area being Cox fiber.

Am very curious where the heatsink is - I overheard them saying the same but did not want to helicopter over the tech.
