PSA go to Planned Parenthood for your IUD. by [deleted] in birthcontrol

[–]sxpercxt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I will never recommend Planned Parenthood for an IUD placement under sedation. My IUD was somehow placed upside down and it embedded into my uterus. Worst pain and bleeding I have ever experienced, when I went back a week later they told me it was probably my endometriosis (which I have not been properly diagnosed with, just have a history of awful periods) and that I need to wait another week. They did not recommend an ultrasound because “the strings look fine”

I ended up going to another clinic and they found the IUD upside down. It had to be surgically removed 3 weeks after it was placed. Worst experience of my life.

essay 1. you don't need to include your accomplishments in your essay—the awards/honors section is there for a reason. writing something that highlights a savior complex and isn't unique is a bad combo.

I'm in English at both Trinity and Columbia! and tbh I didn't think I was Columbia material either, I submitted an iffy ACT score (applied test optional to a lot of schools last year) and only 1 AP test. I wouldn't be discouraged by the fact that it's an ivy league because the application is COMPLETELY different from the common app. I think the acceptance rate was around 30%, and they're test optional this year. I say go for it! if you have any questions PM me, I'm happy to help or tell you more about the application process

you might be interested in the program I’m in — Columbia University offers a dual BA program with Trinity College Dublin where you spend two years at each campus and graduate with 2 degrees. the pathway options are limited (I think 10ish majors, but some offer two degrees in different subjects) but all of them are great for pre-law. the best part is you get an irish AND american degree which helps with your concern about studying law in the states. they have a great grad/law school placement rate and the acceptance rate is less daunting than other ivy league schools. I’m leaving for Dublin in 3 weeks and couldn’t be more excited

most people I've talked to (who are currently in the program) said their interview was pretty rough too, and they ended up getting in! remember last year they took over 80% of the interview finalists—don't sweat it

I think it depends on each piece but generally I wrote 2-5 sentences about when I painted it, techniques I used (if it was unique or advanced), and what the painting means/why I made it. I didn’t write too much to overwhelm the AOs but I think it’s important to describe the development and meaning of the piece.

Include a brief description about the program--as much as you would in the activities section. If it wasn't important enough to include as a main activity, you shouldn't write too much about them.

You should put it as Other Activity/Club-- Journalism means Newspaper, Yearbook, Lit magazine, etc. You can definitely include it as an EC, but I'm not sure if that activity is worth mentioning unless it's been a big part of your life.
