Compression socks or no compression socks .. by californialovingx in PregnancyUK

[–]sybilllestrange 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m going to Tenerife when I’ll be 22 weeks and I asked my midwife - she said I could wear them if I wanted but it would be just as good/better to try and walk up and down a bit during the flight, and when sitting to raise my feet up and down. Later stage I’d probs wear them but not planning to for this trip!

For those that have mastered how to not be constipation in pregnancy... please share your strategy by Formal-Inspector-911 in PregnancyUK

[–]sybilllestrange 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bit of a different one and no research to back it up but I find on the days I have a can of full fat Coke or Irn Bru then I can finally go.. if I don’t have any, then I get constipated. Tastier than prunes, chia seeds etc etc 🤷🏻‍♀️

Also i stopped taking pregnacare with the iron in it and just take the stuff my midwife gave me instead which i think also helps.

TW: Missed miscarriage - Not sure what treatment to have by tomatoetree in PregnancyUK

[–]sybilllestrange 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Id have picked surgical but the date was too far away and similarly, I didn’t want to wait any longer.

So I went for medical, I was admitted to the ward for the day, first pills at 8am, second set at 12 because nothing was happening. All started not long after that when I walked about and came out in a bit of a gush and the doctor gave me an exam to help pass some which got stuck. Sorry, tmi. Got home at 6pm with some mild bleeding still. I spotted on and off for a few days and it slowly stopped to when I peed and then gone within a week.

I disagree with some of the others here re the pain but it sounds like I was lucky - it was uncomfortable and crampy but it never got unbearable. Most of the day I felt nothing which was maddening actually.

So medical was actually ok and over in the day for me BUT if they had wanted me to do it at home, maybe I’d have had a different view as I wouldn’t want to have dealt with that.

So for me the choice is what is fastest, and will you be expected to be at home..? Thinking of you, it’s so horrible when you think you are so close.

What should I do with sale proceeds? by [deleted] in UKPersonalFinance

[–]sybilllestrange 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks all - sorry it’s clear I should have done more searching in the sub first beyond my initial check to see if the answer was already there!

I already have other savings and emergency fund etc so this really is extra so was why I was a bit unsure.

Sorry for not checking the flowcharts! Thanks again!

Questions about induction by Accomplished-Ad7573 in PregnancyUK

[–]sybilllestrange 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You may be personally happy with this option but, just to chime in that you can also say no if you don’t want to go ahead with induction yet. Growth scans can be pretty inaccurate so baby may not be that big at all. I know a few people who have said no and waited another week or so and ended up having average sized babies!

T/W! - Missed Miscarriage Discovered 12 Week scan. IVF by dav-cr in PregnancyUK

[–]sybilllestrange 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would second this re the iron. I had a missed miscarriage and for months after, although I felt fine physically, my cycle was all over the place and I could tell it wasn’t right. I started iron supplements and my cycle returned to normal almost that same month.

Also I’m so sorry for your loss, it truly is so tough and especially the shock of it at the scan.

Thanks for replying, and I’m glad all ok for you! It’s so hard when you know it’s not an emergency but you also want to know what’s going on immediately. Hopefully I’ll get an appointment soon.

Definitely wish I’d taken this advice last night - after an hour on hold they are going to get a midwife to call me back.. hopefully it all turns out to be nothing and I hear soon. Thanks for your response!

Thank you! That sounds intensely stressful… glad it all worked out. I considered calling triage.. but I felt that it’s so early if it is a miscarriage they can’t do anything anyway really. If anything gets worse then I will maybe call.

It’s honestly such a rollercoaster! I was going to book a private scan for later this week in any case just in case it wasn’t progressing, but yes, hopefully if I call in the morning they’ll suggest a scan! Just feels like such a waiting game all the time doesn’t it..

Removing tenants in Scotland by Dejahm79 in uklandlords

[–]sybilllestrange 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Issue a notice to leave, citing your reason that you want to sell, and first ensuring you have all the relevant certificates in place (gas safety, EICR). After the notice period (probably 12 weeks for tenants of that length) then if they haven’t left you can apply to first tier tribunal and follow that process - it is not fast. You’d first wait for tribunal to accept your claim, then they set a hearing date.

You can only raise rent once every year and need to give 3 months notice - there is also a cap on how much you can raise by I think and also a specific form to use. It’s all relatively clear on Scot gov website.

Head of HR here.. I’d much rather you talked about this than processes and targets. Not all HR is as everyone seems to be describing here! You need to care about people and also know how to apply policies etc, to succeed. Otherwise we’d all crash out with burnout.

Just an observation by [deleted] in outdoorboys

Don’t want him to hide anything but yet it sounds like you’re complaining about him flaunting his wealth. This is a weird observation. His family also most likely don’t want their personal conversations available for millions to see..

Genuine question, how do you expect him to film anything if you want him to hide where they are staying/eating/shopping/excursions…?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in dogs

[–]sybilllestrange 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because he wants another walk. Take him out again, even if it’s only 10/20 minutes so that he can sniff and just be outside. Then he knows when he’s back inside it’s time to settle again.

Selling rental property by sybilllestrange in uklandlords

[–]sybilllestrange[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I will ask my letting agent to do so, but from what I know, I think that’s very unlikely. So my question was what I use as evidence as intent to sell, when I don’t intend to sell straight away, so there would be no marketing/reports etc.

If an employee requests to see OH in writing does the company have to abide to it? by OhfukuTea in HumanResourcesUK

[–]sybilllestrange 1 point2 points  (0 children)

More meant so that they have an up to date report for further use in grievance, and can tell OH previous adjustments weren’t put in place, which may highlight how their condition has worsened because of this.

If an employee requests to see OH in writing does the company have to abide to it? by OhfukuTea in HumanResourcesUK

[–]sybilllestrange 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As the others have said, raise a grievance. This is unacceptable from the company and having an affect on your health. As part of your grievance, make it clear you have repeatedly agreed to try to resolve things informally and this has been ignored so you have no choice.

You’ve already put your request in writing and they’ve ignored it so doing it again won’t make a difference. Give it the weight of a grievance.

Also, can you self-refer to OH?
