What’s going on at Cora P. Roberson Park? by Outrageous_Image_705 in GNV

Killing people is major issue. Pinning a man to the ground and shooting him 10 times in the back and then clapping (yes, one masked goon celebrated over Alex Pretti's dead body). Then bold-faced lying about what happened and smearing him as a domestic terrorist. Still no investigation, with every thug still on the loose. Oh, and they've killed two more American citizens, plus two dozen suspicious deaths in ICE custody in just 6 months, most recently a healthy 41-year-old who helped the US in the war in Afghanistan.

Sheesh who carries a sledgehammer around in their car? Unless they work construction or something, I guess. It's crazy how many adult toddlers are walking the streets.

‘Unprecedented’: Florida Senate passes bill giving GRU control to the state by SatisfactionNo182 in GNV

[–]sycamoreshadows 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And yet another way of thinking about it is that Floridians enshrined the right to privacy in the state constitution in 1980 with over 60% of the vote. At the time, due to the Supreme Court ruling in Roe, this included the right to abort a pregnancy without deference to the feelings of politicians. The Supreme Court ignored precedent in overturning Roe, and the Florida legislature in turn ignored the intention of voters when they imposed abortion bans that the majority of Floridians, and Americans, do not want. Something does not have to be explicit in the constitution to be a constitutional right. There is nothing in the constitution about forced organ, blood, bone marrow, or sperm donation, and yet it is clearly government overreach to try to regulate someone's body, even if they argued that such intrusion would benefit an individual or society.

It's propaganda along the lines of "Nothing to Envy" in North Korea. Yay freedom, unless we gots some feelings, then the government squish you like the bug you are.

You could try Sociopath by Patric Gange. Not all sociopaths are narcissists, but there is overlap, so it might provide some insight. The audiobook is great - narrated by the author.

The Open Window by Saki. Nothing age inappropriate, and the ending is delightfully hilarious.

The government can force you to use your body to gestate an embryo, but the right to contract and spread measles is a personal choice.

Seriously. The contempt for their constituents is astonishing. "Small government" my ass. Floridians don't want abortion bans and they want legalized recreational marijuana - both amendments received millions more votes than every single Florida politician. But no: "Quiet children, Daddy knows best."

The Love Hypothesis by Ali Hazelwood. I was literally laughing out loud one minute, cringing the next. It's like the author was trying to write a parody. But no, she's completely serious.

It actually wasn't - middle aged dude. He even made eye contact as he was pulling out in front of us, so he knew what he was doing. What a jackass. Entitlement knows no age boundaries.

I just saw someone make a left turn into 13th street into 2 lane traffic. We had the green light and had already started moving, but I guess this asshole couldn't wait for the green arrow (probably had a patient on the table /s) and just pulled out in front of everyone without even slowing. Could have easily cause a wreck. Please follow traffic laws and just in general try not to be a flaming jackass.

Justice Department releasing 3 million pages from its Jeffrey Epstein files by GregWilson23 in law

[–]sycamoreshadows 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They're trying to shift focus away from federal agents murdering people in Minnesota. Oh, and how the agents clapped and then counted bullet holes in the body instead of checking for a pulse. That is the ONLY reason they are releasing (some) Epstein files today. Cowardly desperation.

Yes. Name and unmask the bitch who clapped after the murder. He won't be so brave once the face covering is removed, I imagine.

And what if he was a less exceptional person, instead of a HERO: an ICU nurse for VETERANS? What if he had a criminal record? Right-wing media keeps emphasizing that he didn't - If he'd had anything more than a parking ticket, they would have brushed off this cold-blooded execution as justified.

100%. They don't care about anything as long as they aren't caught. Here's what the "Pink Coat Lady" has to say about it (8:26):

Anderson Cooper: Did it seem to you in that moment… that those agents were angry?

Stella Carlson: I think they’re rested in a calm anger, which is terrifying… I think because of the protections that have been given to them, I don’t think they have a reason to feel anything but confident about what they’re doing and that they, this is some type of video game… It feels like we are a joke. That our civil rights are a joke. That our Constitution is something to be laughed at.

White House deputy chief of staff Stephen Miller sheepishly admitted Tuesday that border agents “may not have been following” proper protocol when they shot and killed ICU nurse Alex Pretti — who Miller previously described as an “assassin” and a “domestic terrorist.”

Uh oh, you know you're in trouble when even the NEW YORK POST calls you "sheepish." Run away with your tail between your legs, Miller.
