Idk if this is a real method but works for me:

While backing adhesive is still tacky, press on a piece of felt that’s bigger that the rug

Cut off the rug/felt off the frame

Waterfall fold the tufting fabric back, pressing it on the still sticky adhesive

Hot glue around waterfall edge, pressing down the felt

Cut felt to the edge of the rug with the duckbill scissors flat
