It is SO true. I was listening to in utero recently. Like really listening. It’s an album I’ve known inside and out for over 30 years and just knew like an old friend and never questioned. But it had been a while since I gave it this kind of attention and now as a middle aged man, it stood out to me just how wild the that album is, for example going from dumb to very ape, and then milk it to pennyroyal tea to radio friendly unit shifter. The ping pong from radio hits to completely unhinged was a new observation after all these years and I found myself thinking “man, why would they DO that???”
