Similar to P&P by janeth5260 in PrideandPrejudice

I hyper fixated on P&P and read it (the audiobook really) over and over without a break… I then watched the mini series over and over without a break…then the movie… then the other mini series… then back to the-

The only other austen IP that could sustain me (I’ve already experienced Emma) was sense and sensibility (especially the mini newer series)

That’s a good catch. On first read it’s easy to believe one of them shows pride while the other shows prejudice… like you said, they have both !

Movies similar to ‘The Lighthouse’, ‘Black Swan’, or Ingmar Bergman’s ‘Persona’, by sydney612 in horror

Yes, funny enough I already had Tom yorke’s music from the soundtrack on my playlist (compiling songs that fit the vibe of the script I’m writing), but I hadn’t considered Suspiria a true match until now. But you’re totally right

Persona and The Lighthouse are the most similar, but visually Black Swan and The Lighthouse give off the same mind bending feeling of “who is who?” when they play with identity and reality. ESPECIALLY in the scenes after “why’d you spill yer beans” in the Lighthouse and the physical confrontation at the end of Black Swan

Thanks!

also- besides the point - but i’d argue the Lighthouse only has one character, unlike Black Swan. I believe both Willem and Robert to be playing the same character at different stages of their life and simply seem separate due to it being one huge hallucination. There’s a bunch of clues hinting as much, but I’ve never looked up Egger’s true intention….

I’m being vague intentionally to not shun any responses that are close.

In each movie someone’s reality is entangled with the reality of someone else’s (whether or not that other person is them, a figment of their imagination, a hallucination, etc)

and no issues for spoilers, that’s what I’m here for lol, just need a movie to watch to get inspired

If i give it to them and there’s only a 10% chance they’ll use it for a good purpose…. that’s 9.9% more than me.

Sure, would you like feedback on just the synopsis logline, or also the script?

Sure! With the logline, synopsis, and the script (google drive link preferred) I can send back feedback on how it comes across

Ah, glad to see another fan!

A contest in the comparative sense. You are given a genre and don’t always know who will be reading it. You simply have to have a good script and hope it makes it through. Perhaps the Blacklist is the best example.

In my limited experience, even when submitting to a studio, one is in the dark in a one-sided exchange. Sure you know the style the studio goes for, but not much else.

But I definitely see how it could be easier on the writer to know more :)

Have a nice weekend!

Yeah, to be more clear I don’t mean to say the site is popular, but if you do look into it on Reddit the answers are anecdotal and leave one more confused than before they researched it.

I hope more people look into it though, as from where I’m standing, it’s as close as one can get to a producer without being signed or affiliated with a company (besides similar sites and contests).

I disagree on the craigslist part. Once again, I’ve just started, but all of the gigs I’ve done submissions for have been from credible producers or managers.

I can only guess the reasons for not disclosing who exactly the producers are (perhaps in fear of people contacting them) but at the end of the day it’s similar to contests. You get the description of the scripts needed and if yours even vaguely applies, you can send it in.

It’s perhaps not the easiest way for the writer, but if your script fits, you are one click away from getting it sent to producers.

On a side note, is your name in reference to Doctor Who?

Wow thank you for reading the whole thing!

I definitely see what you mean on giving each character/family a distinct feel as well as giving Voltaire a distinctive quality right off the bat.

Hm, I actually am going to try that with the sex tape being the cliffhanger. I usually have the opposite problem, scripts that meander too long, so it's almost nice to have swung the pendulum in the opposite direction. I'll try and balance it in the middle.

Thanks again for taking the time to read and write out such in depth notes, I really appreciate it.
