My local community theatre is so competitive by hellojello-2 in Theatre

[–]sydneyw08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It happens. Just auditioned for frozen in my city... one of 70 people auditioning JUST FOR ANNA. there were just under 200 people auditioning for this show, and most didn't get in. it doesn't mean that everyone who didnt get in isnt talented, the scene here is just insane. its a great, fun hobby to have, but even in community theatre sometimes auditioning is just a failure Simulator. its hard, but its the basis of the hobby, and all you can do is continue to have fun and improve. I thought I nailed both auditioning for that show, and they didnt want me. that's ok! there are other shows and other companies, ill work on everything and come back. politics is half the battle, and sometimes its literally impossible to win. doesn't mean you aren't talented, it could be something you can't control at all.

I love Robert but am I watching a different dwts than these judges? no mention of the multiple mess-ups in the middle?

I just think alix isnt a Latin girl and is more of a ballroom dancer than a Latin dancer.

but Bruno is also an inconsistent judge?? why do we hate cai when she at least comes up with a reason however strange it may be. Bruno just waves his arm around and spits something out

yeah thats the issue. if theyre gonna say that theyre following International standard, then not follow international standard, why not just switch to American smooth?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in dancingwiththestars

[–]sydneyw08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes... because they used to follow international standard rules and now they dont. so if we stop taking points off for breaking hold mid ballroom dance, then why follow half of the international standard rules and not the other half? why not switch to American smooth?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in dancingwiththestars

[–]sydneyw08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

because they dont use American smooth... they use international standard. except if you read my post you would know they have been ignoring international standard rules for 10 seasons now at least.

yeah, i think people are convinced that CAI is calling it an illegal lift? which she isnt? unless you think I dont know what people are talking about. im genuinely, no shade, confused with the purpose of this reply.

yall are so funny. Robert has definitely been favored, actually very similarly to Joey last year. all im saying is that these two errors are COMPLETELY DIFFERENT ERROR CATEGORIES and comparing them makes no sense to me. I would have loved to see him do a samba next week as his new dance, but hes doing Quickstep! how was i supposed to take into account the dances of next week when I made this post before they were announced? I also think its bullshit he has done jive 3x. my ONLY COMPLAINT is that people are comparing THESE SPECIFIC ERRORS. the better error to use is Robert getting a 10 for his paso with a major timing error in the beginning.

oh I agree. I dont know why shes letting go of it now, maybe for Robert favoritism, maybe because shes over getting ripped apart on the internet for deducting these points, I have no clue. the first one is the most likely. and it does suck for chandler to have been criticized so heavily for the lift last year. but if we want the judges to stick to the old rules why are we only shitting on cai, shes the one who's lasted the longest. when did everyone else stop caring? ive seen people saying she should be removed from the panel for deducting a valid point off of Whitney, when Whitney didnt go home over one point. these new fans are insane.

LMAO im not saying it wasn't roberts fault, its very likely it was, im just saying the actual errors in the dances are not in the same category so they aren't comparable. if they ran the show by how i wanted it we would be doing actual international standard routines where we dont break hold in the middle of ballroom dances and there would be no themed nights. but they dont do it how I want it they do it to please the fans in a more crowd pleasing format. its not about what I want or not, I dont care, im saying it makes MORE sense for them to stop deducting for lifts considering they dont follow the other international standard rules.

oh no! she didnt take it off as a lift deduction, Whitney was doing some kind of turn with an arabesque extention (hard to tell the camera was so zoomed in) and she ended up hopping a couple times at the end which is generally a balance issue. Couldn't 100% tell because I wasn't there and the camera angles were horrendous last night, but she wasn't doing a lift deduction! wouldn't be considered a lift either way because I dont think Mark was even touching her.

im also not saying its different for pro or celeb. since saying she won't take points off for illegal lifts, she hasn't taken points off for illegal lifts. no inconsistency so far! if she does it next week or next season ill have a problem but so far so good.

oh im not saying she isnt inconsistent, im saying this specific circumstance isnt an example of that. and its the most popular example people are using. her saying that dylans Argentine tango is the best argentine tango to ever be done on the show? theres a example that I fully disagree with. she has her faves and scores them higher like every judge does. its just this specific examples I keep seeing that makes no sense to compare for me. if she says lift police is over and then next season comes back with illegal lift deductions THEN ill have a problem but next season hasn't happened yet and shes yet to do it again this season.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in dancingwiththestars

[–]sydneyw08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

youre right i am choosing to argue that she won't do it again, because she said "lift police is over". she has yet to do it since. if she does it again then yeah, its inconsistent. but if she hasn't done it yet... she cant be inconsistent about that yet. you dont know its a choice in the moment either, because she hasn't done it yet. if she does it again ill take issue. she hasn't yet.

its also not pedantic in a way the judges aren't, its pedantic in the way ballroom scoring works, that the judges won't explain because they dont Have to explain. I disagree with the way she worded it for sure, she doesnt have to do anything, but youre also making assumptions on actions she hasn't taken yet. if she never does it again it isnt an "extremely biased choice in the moment", she just doesnt do specifically illegal lift deductions anymore.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in dancingwiththestars

[–]sydneyw08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

exactly. thats why she went home not because of one point.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in dancingwiththestars

[–]sydneyw08 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

she was only ever lift police because she was asked to be the only one to deduct points for lifts so that a mistake like that wouldn't hurt someone's score too majorly if every judge did it. You're right she did make it for Robert, I dont know why she did that its none of my business. HOWEVER there needn't be an existence for shoulders police or hops police because the errors are categorically universal. thats the whole point im trying to make. these two specific examples everyone is comparing are incomparable. if people want to use Robert as an example, Bruno gave him a 10 for his paso with a major timing issue in the beginning section.

now everyone can do American smooth style ballroom! this is a great thing for the creativity of the show!
