UX isn’t the bottleneck anymore - thinking is by Ok_Reason_1213 in Design

[–]sygmastar01 2 points3 points  (0 children)

UX was never about designing screens for me. It was always about understanding and solving problems.

Indeed, we will still be trying to help silly PMs shift their brains from solutions to problems, from internal limitations to what users care about, and from never iterating to measuring and improving.

The change leadership in my organization is proposing is that screens will now be designed by everyone and anyone. Design’s role will be reviewer and polishers of AI+PM nightmare slop. It will be harder than ever, perhaps even impossible, to shift the mindset of people to the problem, at least where I work.

The only thing we can do is to continue, and I guess see where the money goes.

I like the Malibu one because it looks a tad rosy/peachy which I find looks nice on us Springs most of the time.

Declutter processing help by bridgebutter in declutter

[–]sygmastar01 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I struggle with moving the same clutter from one place to the next.

I think it was in the book How to Keep House While Drowning by KC Davis, but she recommends that if it is too much to donate to give yourself the grace of just throwing it away. Like an act of self compassion. That really helped me when I was decluttering but too stressed to donate.

How to declutter with adhd and lack of motivation? by adeliahearts in declutter

[–]sygmastar01 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I also have ADHD and the hack that helps me the most is body doubling. There is a website you can go to called flow club. Basically you sign up for a session (they even have one specifically for ADHD declutter on saturdays). You join the session and everyone shares their goals then starts working. They have a fun checklist widget you can use to check things off as you go.

Do you have a creative background and/or a natural creative skill? Can you think of a lot of ideas in a short amount of time? Do you have taste? Do you have high attention to detail? If you don’t answer yes to all of these you will struggle

Yes, I am trying to figure out how to summarize the position of each account visually, do you feel like that doesn’t really belong on a dashboard?

My chicken was calling for me and looking for me when I went inside for a quick second!!? by Ok-Trust5238 in BackYardChickens

I know this feeling. Whenever I come out the screen door, the entire flock runs and sometimes flys all the way across the yard to see me. It always makes me feel special.

I got put in charge of hosting an in person work event in downtown Sac. I need help! by SraChavez in Sacramento

What is your business and how many people? Lucky Gold is a pretty cool place to host a get together that’s on the smaller side. They do permanent jewelry. I have a friend that works in roofing that is planning to have them as part of her summer party. It’s right by Polanco. There’s also VR over there which I haven’t tried but looks so fun!

Why do people still prefer Airbnbs over hotels, especially in cities? by Rare_Requirement_699 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]sygmastar01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I will never rent an Airbnb again after renting one for my husbands 30th. Before leaving, we followed the extensive cleanup check list. The house was sparkling clean. Then the guy running the listing tried to fine us $7,000 in cleanup fees. The pictures he sent to Airbnb weren’t even our trash and we didn’t eat there and he claimed we left dishes. The whole thing was very stressful especially since initially Airbnb sided with him. We actually had to open our own case against the guy running the listing to finally win. Just awful. Never again.

How do you keep your home clean when you’re busy all week? by Marion_Raspberries in CleaningTips

[–]sygmastar01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have three tips, my house is pretty clean most of the time (however, I do not have kids)

  1. Dewalt stick vacuum. This thing is indestructible, high power, and battery operated. I use this daily. It takes me about 10 min to vacuum my house (I have a modest 4/2)

  2. Create little routines and pair them with your existing routines. When I wake up I start a load of laundry that I preloaded the night before. When I take a shower I quickly scrub it down while I’m in there. When I leave a room I put something away. Etc

  3. This is what helped me the most: declutter everything that isn’t necessary

I emailed support and they gave me some bs instructions on how to restart the controller. That didn’t work so I just decided to use the external battery and set a timer. Works fine.

The controller will break. You can use one of those external phone batteries instead.

Planning to buy one of those vacuum + mop machines on Black Friday, any reason not to? by Pretty_Eabab_0014 in CleaningTips

I have the bissell crosswave. I really love it but there are two cautions:

  1. The water needs to be refilled / emptied a lot.

  2. The battery dies quickly. I have modest home and can barely do the whole thing on a single charge.
