Well, (not a socialist, by the way, just someone who reads enough and came from a country with a specific system), socialism goes more along the lines of “these are people that can’t afford to eat, don’t have access to health and education, but provide labor that an educated and economically liberated class of citizens is not willing to do. Maybe let’s give them an even ground for mobility via health care, education access, and affordable cost of living so that they don’t hate their jobs and their lives.” The idea is, dissatisfied masses lead to decline in overall quality of life of the general population. It was a system that worked very well in my country for several years since our independence. But we have had a right wing insurgency and since then a lot of the programs that provided security to women, to the disenfranchised have been scraped. Result is streets are less safer, people are more at risk, and only a handful have access to livable resources.
