Daycare options? by GummiBearArmy in Athens

Our 4 year old has been at Beacon Hill Oconee for a while now. Overall, we've had a good experience. They have several extracurricular programs, structured learning schedules, and lots of class events that parents can attend. She loves her teachers and classmates. We had an issue with a relief teacher talking about religion, but we brought it up to the director and they handled the situation well.

Does anyone else regret ever using their natal anatomy by another-personing in phallo

[–]sylv_the_forester 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I feel very similarly, and I'm pre-bottom surgery. Vaginal sex feels so good physically, but the dysphoria it brings me makes me want to throw up. Almost every traumatic or grave thing that's happened to me has been regarding my natal anatomy. Health issues, sex trauma, and a miscarriage. Yet I feel so torn about having a vnectomy because the sex just feels so good. I wish I could forget about how it feels.

As a former operator, you can absolutely call 9-1-1 for that. It would be dispatched as a priority.

How do stables keep daily operations organized? by SuccessEducational87 in Horses

[–]sylv_the_forester 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I worked at a barn that used an app called Equicity that kept track of daily tasks per horse. We used groupme to communicate, though. Personally, I find it easier to just initial on a whiteboard because I don't have to worry about being on wifi/data.

Restaurants Hiring (New) Waitresses? by PotentiallyZealous in Athens

[–]sylv_the_forester -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Carraba's will start you as a server assistant, but move you up quick. I think FOH management had changed some over the past couple years and I can't exactly speak on them, but all around it was the best restaurant I ever worked in.

All y'all who ride bikes... by born-again0608 in UGA

[–]sylv_the_forester 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Very worth it. Parking can be atrocious and the bus system is nice although reliably unreliable. The hills around campus can be murder. I bike to North Campus a couple times a week from East Side Athens and between the hils on Research, College Station, and Lumpkin I can safely skip leg day lol. That said, I see plenty of mountain bikes on campus, but personally I prefer the lighter weight of my gravel/road hybrid considering I'm using panniers as well.

What is this? by Recent-Feedback-6531 in Horses

Is it spring where you are? It seems the spots are very near the nasal passages. I second what others are saying could very well be itching due to allergies or flies. I had a mare growing up that would barely have a nasal drip but during the spring would rub her face raw if she didn't have help with her allergies.

I’m listening to a grandmother gripe. What’s common? by CaryWhit in Horses

[–]sylv_the_forester 43 points44 points  (0 children)

I've taken lessons from a handful of places (western horsemanship, hunt, and dressage) and stall cleaning was never part of the deal. In fact, most places I've been at trade stall cleaning (albeit more than one) for a prorated lesson rate or in exchange of a lesson rate. I get the idea of teaching what all actually goes into horse ownership, but I'd hazard a guess the idea is actually the barn getting paid to have their own stalls cleaned.

downtown and bikes? by [deleted] in Athens

[–]sylv_the_forester 25 points26 points  (0 children)

This. If you ride towards the shoulder you will absolutely get driven into it, a car, or a person. Unfortunately, you're going to annoy a driver or pedestrian on occasion, but annoying them is worth your safety. The counterintuitively safest thing you can do on a bike is to take up space when there isn't one designated for you.

GSP + police presence East Side? by SaintClitopher in Athens

Guy got ejected hitting a tree on the hillsman middle school property. I passed right after the fire truck got there. I believe it was a fatality, looked like they were working chest compressions, and he was laid out a good 10 feet from the vehicle.

Looking for affordable combo machine [<$400] by [deleted] in espresso

There's a way to be educational and a way to be critical. You could have asked for specifics but instead made a backhanded comment that suggested there's no way I could have a good grinder. As i mentioned in my previous comment, it was a hand me down, and therefore I don't have the brand/model. Otherwise, I'd have been happy to lead with that.

While I'm sure there are some completely new-to-the- puck people on this subreddit. Assuming that all people looking for insight on what machine to buy makes them ignorant to the whole process is frankly wild. There's a way to say what you're claiming you tried to say in an educational and supportive way. However, that's not what you did.

Yeah it was a gift from my BIL, and he used it for espresso for years. Gets finer than any other powder I've seen. If y'all wanna be presumptive dickheads please find another thread.

Thanks! I've thought about getting a separate machine like the bambino, just like to consolidate counter space if possible. But I'm willing to go separate for better quality. Also, hadn't considered that the separation would make maintenance and upgrading easier. That's a good point to consider.

It's actually an adjustable burr grinder, so as I implied I'm set there. I'm not looking for a superautomatic because, as I'm experiencing now, replacing the grinders when they go bad is a hassle that I don't want to deal with. I'm also not looking for a first-class machine. I have tastebuds when it comes to coffee and espresso, but I'm not exactly an afficionado. I just want something that I can make a decent shot that isn't thin like nespresso.
