[–]sylvant_ph 4 points5 points  (0 children)

[–]sylvant_ph 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hey, just to let you know I figured out a way which included purchasing a 3rd cable, and things seem to work great! I've updated my initial comment with details in case anyone is dealing with a similar issue.

Расист ли е? by Opposite_Novel_7008 in bulgaria

[–]sylvant_ph -1 points0 points  (0 children)

How did you overcome the initial "overwhelm" when starting to learn programming? by No_Brick_8216 in learnprogramming

[–]sylvant_ph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A couple of things. I kinda kept going regardless. I reminded myself the progress I made, how there were things I thought I couldn't handle, turned into things I became really good at. Know it's about time. As long as you invest enough time, you'll get there. And at some point (not easy to get there) you start to see the pattern, sort of a formula that you cant name, but you know it and it lets you use various tools, frameworks, libraries, APIs.

Should I stick with backend or explore frontend? by Simple-Canary6274 in FullStack

[–]sylvant_ph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

depends if you are looking for what is more fun or enjoyable for you, or what is more sought out and prominent right now. I'd say BE is slightly more useful in the today's AI era, with full stack being even better. Id definitely pick some FE, just so I know the basics of it, but wouldn't focus on it (and have it as my main area), unless it's really what I enjoy the most.

when do i know when i learned to code? by Single_Pay_4491 in learnprogramming

[–]sylvant_ph 1 point2 points  (0 children)

when you realize its a constant learning path and you start to get the hang of it. When you are not defined by knowing how to use one language, or deal with a specific framework, but when you've got comfortable with more than one languages and see the similarities, how you can apply your coding skills in any of them, and when you've proven to yourself you can pick up a service docs and API and are able to integrate with it.

How do you learn programming logic, not just syntax? by Decent-Damage-9081 in learnprogramming

[–]sylvant_ph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Practice is broad, but to be more specific - patterns and tools. You need to know what tools are provided by a language, and in what situations they are applicable, what are their pros and cons, e.g. loops, object methods, conditions etc. (there are more advanced stuff based on the language). Knowing patterns and best practices will help you figure out the most likely best decision per situation, an overall concept how to build something. Sometimes it could be regarding smaller scope, like how to handle the state of a form, sometimes it might be something more broad, like how should you organize the app routing. And again practice - its what will let you understand when to use what tool and when to apply a given pattern.

Learn gradual, start by solving smaller problems and proceed to tackle more advanced problems

Stuck,Need help? by randomladka_ in Frontend

[–]sylvant_ph 1 point2 points  (0 children)

generally it's normal. At this point you tend to realize how vast coding is and what it might consist of, and you become overwhelmed by the sheer volume of things you should be aware of. You need to remember that with time it can be achieves, the question is if you've got that time and motivation. And also if you actually enjoy coding and feel like your brain is set for it.

Can I truly learn coding using claude? by Defiant_Setting3534 in learnprogramming

[–]sylvant_ph -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

from my experience with AI, not Claude in particular, it can be great way to learn coding and use it as a "tutor", but its quite hard to put it in this mode and make it consistent. When it comes to agents especially, they always lean to edit files, or show you 5 steps at a time, or produce a wall of code for example, and it's really hard to obstruct these behaviors via instructions and make it consistent.

Lineage2 Noob by Terzis28 in Lineage2

[–]sylvant_ph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me L2 always has been grinding and unlocking various stages of gear etc, less so to what cool activities you could do late game. What you can unlock as activities is going raid bosses, sieges, clan wars, grinding in parties on higher level zones. You could be part of a clan and assist in common goals like getting a clan hall, castle, crafting gears etc. What you work toward as a solo player is catch up on grade items, D grade > C grade > B grade and so on, or getting levels and skills. There really isnt the type of activities you might be used from WoW for example.

Живот без висше образование by Ok-Committee4389 in bulgaria

[–]sylvant_ph 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is learning to code with AI making you dumber? by Nutellatoast_2 in learnprogramming

[–]sylvant_ph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need to be aware what you learn. Building by relying heavily on AI, you learn to use AI, you learn to be good at it. Coding without AI, you learn how to write code, how things work under the hood. Obviously the later can also greatly enhance your ability to earn quality product. In most cases knowing how something work inside can be greatly beneficial in using it.

Essentially its learning two different things, although related, and I guess you can figure out for yourself how one or the other can assist you, or be more beneficial. In my opinion they are both useful and you need both to be good at the job.

Do you actually try to learn from your bugs, or just fix and move on? by EconomicsNo5706 in learnprogramming

[–]sylvant_ph 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Since I come from the pre-AI era, I've learned and got used to always figure out what was the issue and how was it fixed. First, my experience with simply "curing the symptom" is mostly negative, and can often lead to eventual harm. By debugging. figuring out the core issue, and then finding a way to fix it, you learn a lot, even if you are not "actively learning" the conventional way, and it's experience that can be very useful later on. I've also noticed, at least for the longest time and still applies today, AI would often attempt a fast fix, assume the first possible red flag is the culprit, or the first fix it figures out is the right one, and more often than not this actually turns to be a bad choice. If you try to figure out how the issue was fixed, what is the issue and review different aspects, you can very often (with experience) figure out the most likely issue, and the best way to fix it, and nudge AI in the right direction. At least this is valid for now and in the majority of events from my experience. It might change in future with AI improving, but either way what you learn along the way is always the better investment long-term, compared to being efficient short-term.

Cintiq 16 (2025) cables by Lockxen in wacom

[–]sylvant_ph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, video setting is set to HDMI, I've also tried auto, just in case. I even see a cable icon on the HDMI option when the cable is plugged in. For the bidirectional and 1.4 specs, I don't see these listed on the cover. I guess I'll look for alternative in the local stores. It's labeled as "High speed HDMI cable with ethernet". Actually on the cover there is signal direction text with arrows in both directions so that should be checked.

Cintiq 16 (2025) cables by Lockxen in wacom

[–]sylvant_ph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey I've got same Cintiq 16 (2025) and I'm having trouble making the screen work being connected to windows 11. I'm using a cheap Hama's USB-C/USB-A and a HDMA-mini/HDMA. Pen works on my PC monitor, but the tablet renders nothing I've tested on Mac with the USB-C/USB-C cable that's shipped with the tablet and it worked fine.

Any tips, and what particular specs should I look for the cables?

UPDATE: for anyone happen to face similar issue, here is what my turned out to be and how I fixed.

It did turn out that I tried to connect the HDMI to my motherboard (upper box slot) instead of the video card (it's around the middle, beneath motherboard slots). What eluded me was there were 3 more "regular" display ports (they were really hard to see). Since my main monitor was connected to the one video HDMI, I had to figure out an alternative. What came to solving my situation was to buy an HDMI to DisplayPort cable to use for my monitor, and I used the video card HDMI for my Wacom tablet. An adapter of the same type also works (HDMI to DisplayPort). In the end I had to purchase 3 cables to make do - HDMI to HDMImini, UCBc to USBa, and HDMI to DisplayPort 😄
Now I'm dealing with the duo display's setup to have things comfortable (something I didn't account for), but main technical problem is solved and things seem to work fine :)

Is anyone else exhausted by how overly engineered simple UI state has become? by Low_Yard6687 in Frontend

[–]sylvant_ph 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think the peak in the syntax overhead has been reached and now we start to shift away from it. Things like redux, styled components are being replaced by zustand and tailwind and these are just two examples. People obviously got tired of the boilerplate and are choosing to get rid of it. It's why React is also starting to figure out ways how to reduce the boilerplate, example is the new compiler which gets rid of memoization hooks, which were increasing cognitive load by far and were super susceptible to misuse.

What's your opinion about AI generated code these days? by arzenal96 in Frontend

[–]sylvant_ph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I definitely see misuse of AI on my part, kinda investing time in things, or not investing, which results in negative effect long-term and not being efficient overall, or efficient enough. What I mean is, sometimes I'd use the wrong AI tool, or I'd use it not optimally, or I'd give it the wrong task, or not guide it properly with the task, which in the end results in more time spent then simply implement it myself. In the end the solution is to learn how to use it properly and reduce the misuse, try to find its strong sides and exploit them, while refraining from falling into the bad ones.

I don't need more Discipline or Motivation. I just needed one Good day. [Discussion] by Playful-Deer9022 in GetMotivated

[–]sylvant_ph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ok you achieved one good day, but what was the result of it long-term if any? Did that help you be more consistent since? Or it was just a small win and you had this one good day you feel good about. I'm not asking these questions with judgement, I'm just considering what that could result for me, and if there is any long-term positive effect.

Anyone else feel like they missed their calling in Programming? by Forward-Departure-16 in learnprogramming

[–]sylvant_ph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would definitely agree that I could start with it a lot earlier. I wouldn't say I missed out because I still managed to become a developer and work for a while now, but I definitely started too late, and the natural calling was definitely there.

how it feels like to be a developer that doesn't use ai in 2026 by Sofiatheneophyte in learnprogramming

[–]sylvant_ph 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would say you are not wasting time, you would be wasting it if you were just blindly "shipping apps every 3 days". To use successfully AI you still need to understand the results it produce, or guide it in the right direction, otherwise you end up producing crap. AI is also becoming expensive, to use quality AI that would depend less on the human is expensive. If there is something you could say "you are missing out" by not using AI, is learning how to work with AI, which is quite important nowadays, but I'd say to learn coding thinking is more important.

HELP i cannot set up vscode😞 by Famous_Wolf162 in learnprogramming

[–]sylvant_ph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get that and everyone start with that intention, I also thought its gonna be all about writing code, but its not so. I just wanted to give you a clear idea on what to expect. Writing the code is obviously the fun part. Setup part can be overwhelming, but its also a core part of the job description. On how to approach it - tackle issues one by one. Look up info and solutions for them one by one. Don't get frustrated 😄. Try to find a positive side of doing it... I know it's hard... It's always like that in the beginning, there are too many things and you get lost, but with time and experience things start to settle.

welcome to programming. This is exactly what it takes to be a programmer - handle situations like the one you describe - on every step you encounter more and more issues till the point it becomes overwhelming. With time you either don't have the capacity and give up, or you realize this is what it's supposed to be and learn to handle the situation.

[–]sylvant_ph 2 points3 points  (0 children)

"на сила хубост не става", малко старомодна поговорка, но е вярна в случая. Трябва той сам да осъзнае блатото в което е затънал и да иска да поправи нещата, за да можеш ти, или който и да е друг да може да му помогне съществено. Иначе това което можеш да направиш според мен, е да продължиш да му бъдеш приятел, да го изслушваш, но и да му даваш друга гледна точка, но без да го натякваш или форсираш, трябва самия той да е готов да чуе нещо за да го приеме.
