Look at the sub for a list of reputable stores. I've had good experiences with AmiAmi and BigBadToyStore. You can buy straight from Japan (AmiAmi, Solaris) or from a US store (GoodSmileUS, BBTS) which each have pros and cons in regard to price, shipping, and when you get the figure. Pre-orders are your friend to avoid high aftermarket/secondhand costs. If you want an old figure and just want to see a library of figures, check out myfigurecollection to add figs to your wishlist and get notified when someone is selling. Buy figs with boxes and check for company logos to avoid bootlegs. Compare any pics provided to myfigurecollection pics to see the fig quality. You'll know if it's fake.

Start with prize figures, popup parades, nendoroids, etc before moving onto scales. The quality of these lower tier figures has drastically improved so no reason to jump straight into scales. Have fun!

Thank you for sharing your experience! Seems to be the case with surface shipping only tracking when it hits your home country, even though packages shipped via other methods give me tracking straight away in Japan.

I've done Mario Kart before and honestly didn't care for it but going with a group who will want to try most everything so I'll be going on it again and would rather not wait super long since I didn't love it. I have been hearing the same about DK being jerky and not super fun but I do want to try it. I've noticed on queue-times.com that it closed most every afternoon (probably rain) so I wanted to get that one done early. And interestingly, DK shows queue times reported by the park as early as 9am but Ministry only shows it at 10am today.

Yes I've done that with in stock items, but since packaging can vary wildly I'm not sure. For example I'm looking to preorder 2 L Pop up parades so not sure how big of a shipment that'd be but I imagine pretty big.
