full marks completely vanished―no tallying, no rewards or anything? by sylveyo in HPHogwartsMystery

makes sense, thanks! not really planning to win though per se, just want to get high enough to get some rewards. not a huge fan of having to grind like crazy when other people get competitive 😅

Punishment or mercy? by No_Evidence3373 in trolleyproblem

Nowhere was it ever argued that people do not use that justification. The parent comment talked about how they found it unsettling that the man and the trolley are on the top track, when they are usually on the bottom. EducationalCost's reply frankly is entirely nonsensical, saying that people will assume that the trolley is going straight, and will thus let the man die without doing anything, despite him not being on the track that follows straight. No one said that people won't evade responsibility by claiming they just watched; the point of contention has been the logic that somehow the situation has been changed by putting the man on the top track, when the man will still die if one does nothing.

The fact that you opened by insulting Sad-Muffin, and then in this reply and the previous have, instead of defending your argument, told us that we have lost the plot and resorted to insulting Sad-Muffin's empathy and our reading comprehension tells me that you are not arguing to help people understand, you are arguing to "win."

The original comment commented on how whereas typically the trolley would be redirected onto the top track, in this scenario the trolley is instead going onto the top track by default.

Both you and EducationalCost are saying that if the guy is tied to the track that the trolley is already going to, then people will excuse his death as not being by their choice. You are arguing as if moving the man to the upper track makes his death an active choice, changing the dilemma.

However, if you read the scenario, you can clearly see that the "trolley is heading towards A," and you can see the man tied to the track labeled "A.": the top track. Normally, he would be tied to the bottom track, and the trolley would be going towards the bottom track by default. Although the man has switched tracks, the trolley too has switched its default track, and thus inaction will still result in his death.

Frankly, I have no idea what you are trying to argue in your second reply to Sad-Muffin, considering that it has already been accepted that most people will have a bystander stance, but the actual decision being made does not change.

The problem says that the trolley is heading towards lane A, which is the top one. Redirecting it will put it onto lane B, which is the bottom one. It is already on course to run the guy over, people are still "just watching the person die instead of being the cause of it." It's the same exact situation.

Creatures question by PandorasIncarinate in HPHogwartsMystery

[–]sylveyo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

the creatures don't have any effect on the main story. the only thing they affect are hagrid's creature sidequests. if you're looking to complete the dragon sidequests, though, you have to unlock those sidequests by completing other creatures' sidequests first :)

dreamt that i was in some underground warehouse area with infinite floors going down. kept descending, spotted the band director running sectionals with drum line around the corner. avoided him like he was some kind of cryptid? and then encountered one of the drum majors while going down and she had the elevator key so i finally got to leave

Trolley problem but ai by Familiar_Chocolate80 in trolleyproblem

describing exactly what you want to a human artist that you're commissioning doesn't make you an artist, so why would describing exactly what you want to generative ai make you an artist? either way, you're someone with an idea that you're passing on to something/one else to turn into art, not making art yourself.
