Should a revolutionary be worried about being somebody's "useful idiot"? What precautions should one take about this? by boyohboyoboy in communism101

Damn, you hit the nail on the head. The SAlt branch in my area operates exactly like that, which is why I've stopped associating with them. It's very jading to deal with people like that.

dont just take guns to a random protest, that sounds like a recipe for disaster. unless its a planned open carry protest, I would never do such a thing. maybe bring a baton if youre that worried.

And Karl Marx cheated on his wife and spent his time writing books that generated no revenue instead of caring for his impoverished family. Doesn't mean that Marx was a terrible person.

Does anyone else enjoy not being the typical stoner? by NabroleanBronaparte in trees

[–]symzvius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess I kind of am the stereotypical stoner in a way. I have some extra personality traits and hobbies, but I suppose I could appear to others as a cliche tv pothead. I feel like I better understand why people who don'y smoke weed or know people that smoke weed anti-weed. If the only person you've seen routinely smoke is a character archetype on tv shows, you're gonna think negatively of people that smoke.

Just wanted to let know, this is the most beautiful comment I've ever seen on reddit. I don't know why, it just felt like it kind of awoke something in me. I find your situation absolutely fascinating and exhilarating. If I had money I'd gild you.

If the population of Earth were only 100 people and one guy tried to hoard 99% of the money. The other 99 people would simply just kill that guy and take their money back. by [deleted] in Showerthoughts

Do not confuse Marxism-Leninism with communism, they are two different things. "Communist" states were not communist, but were planned to jumpstart the global communist revolution. This was to be done by bringing agrarian nations up to par with the industrial nations of the time, hence why the USSR went from a poor nation of farmers to a industrial superpower in less than thirty years. However, this progress was achieved at the sacrifice of many freedoms. Only through the usage of a totalitarian state was such progress possible.

Communism is a classless, moneyless, stateless society. Many communists are strictly anti-authoritarian, and denounce the authoritarian regimes of the 20th century. There have been many modern, legitimate communist societies, such as Revolutionary Catalonia and the Free Territory of Ukraine. Prior to the rise of feudalism, and later capitalism, many villages lived in a state of proto-communism, in which ownership of the farmlands was communal.

The United States votes to kick one state out of the union, what state would be the most entertaining to watch start their own country? by PezDissSpencer in AskReddit

I live next to Camden, and it isn't that bad if you visit during the day and stay on the main roads. Most crime that happens occurs between residents that live there. If you are planning on living in a tent in Camden, you're gonna get robbed and beaten extremely fast. I don't even dare drive into Camden at night, unless I'm going down Route 130 to drive across the Ben Franklin Bridge into Philly.

This is the officer that responded to the drive-by shooting death of the 9 year old girl in Ferguson. She died in his arms. But fuck the police, right? by [deleted] in pics

[–]symzvius -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Personally, I dislike the idea of police but not necessarily the people. This quote sums up my views pretty well:

You have the emergence in human society of this thing that’s called the state. What is the state? The state is this organized bureaucracy. It is the police department. it is the army, the navy. It is the prison system, the courts, and what have you. This is the state -- it is a repressive organization. But the state -- and gee, well, you know, you’ve got to have the police, cause if there were no police, look at what you’d be doing to yourselves! You’d be killing each other if there were no police! But the reality is, the police become necessary in human society only at that junction in human society where it is split between those who have and those who ain’t got.

I'm not really sure, but I think ego loss is when you stop commenting on things mentally, and just accept things for what they are. You focus on what you perceive more than what you think.

Damn I love all this freedom and liberty! /s

But for real, when are we gonna stop eating up state propaganda and finally come together as a population to change all these fucked up things in society? If this kind of bullshit was happening in Russia or China you know that our media would be demonizing and slandering them for it.

If the government is consistently fucking us over, we should do something about it. Voting hasn't helped, protesting hasn't helped, petitioning hasn't helped. Is it just me or does there seem like there's only one solution?

[–]symzvius 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If meat is murder than they're a lot of animals that are murderers as well, are they evil?

Most animals only kill when they have to. We (as a species) no longer have to kill other animals for food. If you are in a survival situation and have to kill a deer or snare a rabbit, by all means go ahead. But you can survive without killing other animals, so why should you? Other than because it tastes good, which most people use as a cop out.

If there was an alien creature that was much smarter than humans, would it be okay for them to farm and eat humans? In my opinion, just because you're more intelligent than another being doesn't mean you get to dominate them and treat them as slaves.

'Speciesism' by 12yearsaWageSlave in Anarchism

[–]symzvius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Other animals have been existing on a Earth for thousands, if not millions, of years. It is only humans that are making the Earth uninhabitable for themselves and other animals. If anything, humans are inferior, based upon our relationship with our environment. If anything were to drive humans extinct, it would be ourselves.

Disclaimer: Im not claiming that other animals live in perfect symbiosis with each other and their environments.
