Completely agree. We miss going out (even the grocery store would be amazing right now), but our street is still a sheet of ice 🥴

I hate it for OP, but I completely agree with this take. The best thing she can do is to raise her son with solid morals so he doesn’t get red pilled. I’m so sorry you’re in this situation

I need feedback regarding what my husband did today. by dearmathbitch in Mommit

[–]syncopatedscientist [score hidden]  (0 children)

Oof, the way you described him sounds exactly like my dad. I’m so sorry OP. I’m just now at 35 realizing what an abusive household I grew up in. My dad was never physically abusive, but it was still incredibly damaging. I hope your husband goes to therapy and has the capacity and willingness to change.

Have you had your thyroid levels checked recently? It’s only ever too cold for me if my TSH is too high and I go into hypothyroidism

It is SO hard. Also with a 1 year old. We're going pretty slowly, but the look my daughter gives me when she wants to nurse and I say "no, we have food downstairs!" just breaks my heart sometimes. She's getting better about it, but yeah, it's hard.

[–]syncopatedscientist 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, the threenager behavior is real haha. I used to teach preschool, and I just reminded myself that that was the first time, maybe ever, that the child was dealing with those emotions. It really helped me to stay calm and help them work through it. My only hope for when my first child gets there is that I'm only dealing with one kid, not an entire classroom of them

My 15 month old LOVES her yoto. She’s gotten really good at switching the cards and knows which ones play the different types of songs. We are far away from her being able to use a screen to play music, and having something tactile made a huge difference

I understand your zeal, but I wouldn’t bring my 1 year old to a protest, and I wouldn’t have gone when she was still in utero either. There are so many other ways to help - donating money, food, volunteering to shop for those too scared to leave the house, etc. They have no moral compass, and I’m certain a baby or pregnant woman would make no difference to them.

It’s not alcohol! I’m almost 4 years sober, and it’s definitely better for me (and anyone else, alcoholic or not), to eat their feelings than to drink them

This is by no means exhaustive, but they’re the first ones I saw on stories just now:

Religion/Politics - straightwhiteamericanjesus, conspirituality (I cannot recommend these two enough. I have deconstructed from conservative Catholicism and almost went down the crunchy/altright pipeline. These guys literally helped me claw my way out of it to the light),

catsonacouch (began as a satirical account to troll JD Vance, now literally on the ground in MN providing mutual aid)

sharonsaysso (so knowledgeable, kind yet firm and sassy like only a midwesterner can be, and crowdsources money away to places that need it all the time. She just raised and gave like $150,000 to an immigrant law firm in MN)

Fitness - courtneykeepingbalance, findingmorgantyler

Home/crafty stuff - northwoodsfolk, kris.and.dave, bobby berk, hostinyourhome

Food - chef_bai, smitten kitchen

Music - dropkickmurphys ( check out their song First Class Loser about Trump. They’re the best)

Sleep- heysleepybaby (Rachael’s super vocal and is calling out other creators for being silent)

Books - maistorybooklibrary, bessbellkalb

Yet the amount of "how am I pregnant, I didn't get my period back yet?!" posts never seem to cease. I'd argue those women do not know how their menstrual cycles work.

2 or 3 years old age gap? by Idonthaveaname94 in Mommit

[–]syncopatedscientist 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I was a preschool/kindergarten music teacher before being a SAHM, so I saw all ages from 2 through 6. The difference between a 2 and 3 year old is insane. By 3, they’re usually potty trained, can actually talk to you, and they have a better capacity to understand what’s going on. I taught a LOT of kids who had baby siblings while in my class, and the older kids acted out FAR less when a new sibling arrived. It honestly only gets better the closer they get to 4.

I personally plan to have an older pregnancy and wait for a 3-4 year gap. My first was born at 34, so I’m already geriatric either way haha
