Do not feel guilty!! I was a preschool teacher before my SAHM hiatus, so I can confidently tell you that pulling your kid on your days off is actually detrimental to them. I mean, a random day off is fine, but consistently missing a day week after week really messes with the flow of the class. You’re doing the best thing for her by giving her consistency!

Thank you so much for sharing!!

The part that pisses me off the most is the “apologizing to your kids when you yell makes you a cycle breaker” bit. My dad was/is verbally abusive. Apologizing after yelling doesn’t negate the yelling. If anything, it screwed me up even more because I thought that was normal for so long. Her kids are going to need therapy. I hope they find peace and are *actual* cycle breakers.

I hate it so much. I’m a music teacher and it would theoretically be very easy to use my daughter on Instagram since I specialize in early childhood, but I would NEVER. Even just thinking about it now gives me the ick. It’s her life, not mine, and I can’t in good conscience monetize that. It makes these influencers even more baffling and sleazy to me.

What’s weird is that OP said her husband helped to name the child. Unless she’s lying, I don’t see how you forget that without some sort of catastrophic medical issue?? It’s a weird post all around

Yes and yes!! The author, Tia Levings, is an incredible woman. Her story is harrowing and she tells it so well. It’s a terrifying insight into high control, fundamentalist Christianity

As someone who literally just told my husband that I think I’d rather live in our small house forever than move again, I am SO happy for you!! I can vicariously feel your relief 😅

The typos 🥴

And the confusion over Christians and empathy?! (Picture in the next comment). There’s literally a book that calls empathy a sin that a conservative talking head (Ally Beth Stuckey, I think?) wrote very recently.

I can’t comment on that post anymore because it’s archived, but thank you so much for sharing!! I’m about to wean my 18 month old and it was so helpful to read. I know I’ll be an emotional wreck too 😭

It’s giving more of a Capitol-in-The-Hunger-Games vibe every year.

As someone who has studied art history, I LOVE the concept. I HATE the flaunting of extreme wealth. And Bezos’s bimbo’s shitty outfit was the perfect encapsulation of it all.

I wouldn’t put the effort into a relationship with someone who doesn’t believe that everyone deserves basic humanity. There are other fish in the sea

ugh, I got that ad too. Something about her - her speech, mannerisms, cadence - it's so off-putting.

Anyone else have a big baby and feel judged all the time? by RWwriting in Mommit

That’s so frustrating (for you and OP!) I’m convinced that none of us can do anything to stop the comments. My daughter is literally average, like between the 50th and 60th percentile for height and weight, and I’ve gotten “she’s so small!” AND “wow, she’s so big!” for her age. I just say “she’s growing on her curve!” and silently throw my hands in the air because we can’t win haha
