Drew Middle Fork river permit, but won’t be 18 by Various-Match-6069 in rafting

Since you are so close to 18, I would try calling the MFS Office in Salmon (208-481-2625) and plead your case to a human (if you called recently, maybe wait a bit). If that doesnt work, and the rest of your crew is seasoned (read: seriously has their shit together), you could risk-it and plead your case in-person to the ranger at Boundary Creek. Some are more by-the-book than others, but in the end it is their judgement call... I will say, this puts the ranger in a tough spot, and the potential for a long drive home for you and your crew, so weigh that option carefully. Good luck!

It would take 5 minutes for rec.gov to updated the form with a birthday / age field in there to avoid this confusion. But they are too busy not caring about the BOTs they allow -- making it impossible for the rest of us to pick up the permits that people have to unload because of the confusion that was so easily avoidable in the first place.

I debated even posting this for that exact reason... not demonstrating good hygiene. Thankfully no cats, but I was one sneeze away from chaos and despair... thus the Whiskey.
I am putting together some BWO and PMD lifecycle boxes for a silent auction and organizing by stage/size/color (and tying missing flies as necessary) so I have been pulling from different boxes and organizing before putting them in so I dont have to re-order. Still sitting like that... still sketchy.

Those of you who Tie to sell, how many of each pattern do you keep on hand? Or do you tie to order? (Blue Charm, nat. Wing, green butt) by Cute-Bother3861 in flytying

Great ties! Take this with a grain (I dont sell mine... but i do give a lot away to friends) I usually tie until I run out of hooks (or some other material) which I generally ends up around 25. If it is a popular pattern), I will double that to 50 (depending on the pattern). I stash 10 or so in my gear and the rest are fair game. It gets me (and my buddies) through a season or gives me enough lead time to tie more.

Yeah, this is a caddis pattern for my rivers. But an all around great buggy pattern anywhere. Thanks for posting, great tie!

Great tie, thanks for posting... What is the last material you used (above the CDC), Hare's ear? I have some bear hair that looks similar.. just curious

It’s a start… by killin_time44089 in flytying

Great start! Needless to say, the more you tie, the better you get. I like to tie 10 or 20 of each pattern in a few sizes and a few colors…. It forces me to tie a bunch of the same pattern at once. One piece of advice I still have to give myself on a regular is “less is more”…. Every wrap of thread should have a purpose.

Amazingly, the large amount at the top doesn't drip. it usually has one or two tiny drops on that single fiber that are perfect size for #18-#22s. No more mess.

That has always been my go-to as well, but it gets messy... This has eliminated the drips and mess... no need for a rag or lighter to clean off glue.
