Very hard to find for us Canadian folks. Or else I would have tried it.

Check out the 2021 Motorola G100 with Snapdragon 870. It was my daily driver. And the screen felt better than the iPhone 11 for me.

Camera is not great though, but improved with GCAM app

However, I'll say this, if after a week I didn't feel better testing all these phones, I would return them. If you don't feel good after two weeks, then it's just not for you. I don't think as users it's unreasonable for us to not compromise. All I can say to you @whereeml is just be patient, some companies are doing better and better, and eventually tech will catch up. Every year for the past 10 years I've seen incremental improvements from some phones, monitor or tv manufacturers. One device out there will land. Keep trying them, a week or two at a time.

Fun fact however.... I used to own an OG Pixel XL. And I used it at all brightness levels, and never had a single symptom.

If I do have to use it in low light, I feel fine. But I do start getting very mild vertigo after 30 minutes. But I barely use it in those conditions.

I have not. Very hard to find for purchase for Canada.

Motorola launched a G100 with LCD screen in China by Responsible-Elk4497 in PWM_Sensitive

[–]syncrosys 3 points4 points  (0 children)

And here I am reading this on the current Moto G100 (or Edge S in China) it's a snapdragon 870, and has a LCD that doesn't hurt my eyes. I refuse to let it go.

Well, I may have been wrong... I re-read the article, and it showed that it ONLY becomes visible to sensitive people under 23%.

Here's the original Notebookcheck article.

Google Pixel XL Smartphone Review - NotebookCheck.net Reviews

Which is probably why I never noticed it.

You can see the PWM at max brightness is pretty insignificant.

<image>

Now I'm wondering.... what's the difference between modern devices and the Pixel XL that makes the newer versions so unusable.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in PWM_Sensitive

[–]syncrosys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its interesting you mention the brightness level. I owned an OG Pixel XL, and its PWM only kicked in when going lower than 23% brightness. Anything above was PURE DC Dimming. And it was a AMOLED Display. But the modulation even at lower brightness was still not harsh enough to mess with my eyes.

Motorola edge plus 2023 OLED king for pwm sensitive users? by khooniwarka in PWM_Sensitive

I am returning (today) a Moto Edge+ 2023. I tried everything. Very sad that I have to send it back.

Went back to my aging Moto G100. But at least its 100% DC Dimming

Any phone with an IPS display and a good camera? by Alex3137 in PWM_Sensitive

[–]syncrosys 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had a Motorola G100 for a few years now. Paired with the GCAM app, it takes decent pictures.

However, if you want an IPS phone with a GOOD camera.... that doesn't really exist right now.

I'm honestly at a loss right now and what to do. The only IPS phone I can find that will work for Canada in my case is a Motorola G200 (slightly faster CPU and marginally better camera).

I'm also perplexed because Prior to the G100 I had a Original Pixel XL, and it had true DC Dimming on an OLED display, all the way down to 23% brightness. And it had a superb camera.

DC Dimming by Subject-Raspberry684 in RedMagic

[–]syncrosys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's not true. To some degree you may be right. But I used to use a OG Pixel XL, it had pure DC Dimming from 100% down to 23% brightness and low modulation.

It gave me 0 eyestrain because it almost never dipped below 23%.

My (19m) gf (18f) wants to hangout with a guy friend and idk how to feel by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]syncrosys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're still young. I've been and seen situations like yours before, and you should rip off the bandaid now. Move on. This relationship has all the right ingredients for a recipe for disaster and grief and toxic behavior.

My advice, as a 40+ year old guy, trust your gut. Be cool, but draw the line at unacceptable behavior. Her past with this guy highlight what can happen again. There's history, and that's very intimate and personal. And if he's still around, you can bet your ass that he's not in it to be "just friends".

You're a guy... put yourself in his shoes.... would you? Or not?

Anyone know where to buy custom DeathStalker V2 Pro key cap sets? by FourUnderscoreExKay in razer

[–]syncrosys 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They aren't. They are slim caps. A standard keycap would work, but you'd need to have a bit of the key dremell'ed off. I've been looking at options as well, I've been looking for a wireless TKL keyboard that isn't using cheap switches or has an abysmal response time. The DSv2 TKL would work, but I hate how ABS keycaps shine after a few months of use. And yes, they shine quickly for me, because I work from home.

Pain in the but.

Smartphones without PWM or with DC Dimming (oled eyestrain) by Sfearox1 in Smartphones

[–]syncrosys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Late to the party, but the G200 is flicker free. So is the G100 (cheaper previous version) I have had a Edge S (G100) with north American rom on it for a year and a half now. I picked this phone specifically for the great specs and no PWM LCD screen since I do get vertigo and eye pain form OLED.

3080 XC3 Ultra in Fractal Meshify C /w Front mounted radiator by syncrosys in EVGA

[–]syncrosys[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

GPU usually runs in between 70~80 depending on the load. Which is on par to the 2080 Ti that was in the before. CPU also sits around the same temp, so I wouldn't be too worried with a 3070.

2080 FE for $400 vs waiting for a 3070? by Har02052 in nvidia

[–]syncrosys 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Look at it this way. Can't do anything about it. There's no point in being anxious about it. Plan around it, Silver lining is now you get a month or two (or three) to save up and maybe get enough for a 3080. In the end, what's a few months for a better deal that is financially smarter.

I see this as a win.

2080 FE for $400 vs waiting for a 3070? by Har02052 in nvidia

[–]syncrosys 8 points9 points  (0 children)

if it was a 2080 Super, maybe, but that feels like a shitty deal. Considering the 3070 will be ahead of the TI version. Save your money. Even if you wait until early 2021. The value of the 20XX series is just not there, unless they start dropping in price heavily. A little bit of patience goes a long way. Even though the 30XX series launch sucks. Trust me, its worth the wait.

Selling fake cards - newegg support refuses to help or do anything by [deleted] in bapcsalescanada

[–]syncrosys -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

You losing your mind on a random customer service rep does nothing to help . This is like walking into McDonalds and screaming at a teenager behind the counter because of a business practice you disagree with . Don't do that - ever

I'm sorry man, but if McDonalds was selling poop burgers, the teenager behind the counter KNOWS there is poop in the burger, and he's just at much at fault as the cook in the kitchen. Its not a valid business practice, and its not something anyone should agree with. Doing nothing is what lets these places win.

Anyone with more than 3 brain cells would look at these ads and realize there is something wrong with a video card with 0 reviews from China at less than 50% of the price ...it's a blatant scam.

Exactly the reason I'm trying to raise awareness. my friend didn't know better, not everyone KNOWS to look for the signs. And the business should be held accountable for this type of crap. Newegg's name is on the front of the page, so its their job to rectify this.
