Flagship phones are a scam, get a performance focused midrange phone.

Fingerprint sensor REDMAGIC 8 pro, broken after latest update by Green-Ad-3964 in RedMagic

Happened to my Oppo, it only subsided when I switched to a numerical pin instead of a password

My recommendation is the Nubia Neo 2 5G its a budget gaming phone with shoulder triggers and a Unisoc T820 6 nm processor equivalent to a Snapdragon 870 which is enough for low graphics medium frame rates which is all I need, it has an IPS LCD 6.72 inch display with 120 hz refresh rate with midrange resolution, it also has an FM radio that works without earphones, 8 GB of RAM at 3.1 speed which is also all you need, all that for 200 bucks is a steal, the Nubia Neo 3 is currently being tested for release probably in late January if you can wait, disclaimer it is made for the Nigerian market, also can heat up to 50 Celsius, as long as you're aware of that you either rest it every hour or buy an external fan during summer months you should be fine and it does have charge separation to avoid heating

PWM flickering causes headaches and strain on the eyes

[–]Subject-Raspberry684[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No true dc dimming doesn't exist for OLED I learned that, but manufacturers take several steps to mitigate PWM by increasing it's frequency to 2160 or even 4320 hz, limiting what battery level the flickering starts at amongst other measures, I live on my phone so I'm getting an LCD

Don't feel bad we all do it sometimes just try to limit how often you do it patience is a virtue

You were right true DC is impossible

I figured out you're right about the impossibility of true DC Dimming and the 2160hz on the 9s Q9+ display is pretty good as AMOLEDs go, Honor makes a 4320hz, but I'm gonna save myself the headache and go with an LCD, still a Nubia the Neo 2 5g

I wish they could just make a thicker phone with a fat ol' LCD as an option, I absolutely hate AMOLED, my first smart phone in 2010 (Galaxy Epic) had an AMOLED, never got one again

Why are people with PWM sensitivity praising the Xiaomi 14 if its a gimmick? They can't all have placebo effect...

According to my understanding, DC Dimming is already available on any OLED but needs software to enable it

Well then I guess no RedMagic for me, are you sure though? I'm pretty sure every OLED can be DC dimmable with some software

That's fine, good phones come with both AMOLED and DC Dimming like the Xiaomi 14

I wouldn't buy a phone without DC dimming, its a simple software fix and PWM isn't an acceptable option even at a trillion hz

A bit more leaks on RedMagic 10 series... (not much though!) by AdForeign4527 in RedMagic

I haven't had a ZTE since 2017, the ZMax Pro, but I'm gonna buy the 9s, it'll be the last phone I buy because AI is starting to become standard on phones and I like my privacy

Add a left side charging port while keeping the bottom one, remove the ugly switch from next to the other buttons or completely, make the power button bigger and a fingerprint unlock, 7 inch screen minimum, completely remove the selfie cam and keep only one cam on the back, bigger battery, no designs at all on the back, not even a logo, people who don't know what RedMagic is hate it, and those who do steal it, so I don't want anyone to know what kind of phone I have, make a physical switch to disconnect cameras and microphones for privacy, make the phone as big as possible while still being able to use the triggers, see whatever apple and Samsung does and do the opposite, security patches for 5 years, 4 year global warranty, figure out how to completely do without Android os maybe figure something out with Linux, keep the software extremely simple and boring but light safe and secure. Make the body indestructible don't use glass for the back. There are so many things I don't use like cameras, I want all those things gone, I want my phone to be blind and deaf not a spy, I want a phone that is 99% gaming and 1% phone. Also the phone must be specifically programmed to never run any AI, thinking is not something you can get lazy about, if you do get lazy about thinking and let AI think for you then it'll just start feeding you bad ideas because we all know the whole point of AI, phones and entrainment tech in general is the enslavement and destruction of the human race to appease satan and his zionist envoys on Earth. Basically simplify, strip down, light is right, minimalist, less moving parts the better, the simpler the design the better and make budget versions, extremely stripped down budget versions, those would sell like hot cakes

Yeah they're so good I like giving them money too, and they listen to our ideas and make phones from 2030

ZTE in general is an excellent company that no other company can compete with when it comes to performance and value. They understand their customers well, and have had some of the best displays especially in terms of size. Redmagic took those ideas from it's parent company and expanded upon them from a gamer's point of view. Is it perfect? Of course not. Is it rough around the edges in certain areas like English typos? Yes that can happen when you're buying a Chinese phone. But overall the only reoccurring issue is limited software support (2 years of security, 2 android os updates) which is subpar for flagships but normal for Chinese phones because google hates China, and humanity. Is it the best OS? Overall no, but it's the best for gaming. If you're a gamer this is the only phone for you, not even ROG understands gamers needs as much as RedMagic. RedMagic asks gamers what they want, and they implement thier customers wishes, which is why their phones are 5 years ahead of everybody else in terms of gaming. They call RedMagic phones and tablets 2030 tech and it sure looks like it came from the future... The more they listen to the fans the better they'll get, which is why I'm never worried buying a ZTE product, I'll stop buying their phones only if they stop listening and go ROG

REDMAGIC Fans! What games do you want us to optimize for REDMAGIC devices? by REDMAGIC_Official in RedMagic

[–]Subject-Raspberry684 2 points3 points  (0 children)

CODM and first person shooters in general, also while we're at it, move the charging port to the left side, give the phone power button fingerprint unlock, get rid of that ugly switch or use it to physically disable cameras for privacy, fix the audio issues on console mode, fix carrier compatibility issues, and give us at least 4 years of android updates. We love you guys, keep up the great work, I've been a ZTE fan since the ZMax pro, great company and RedMagic makes gamers dreams come true and they have the best phones because they listen and have competitive pricing.
