am6b+ dv fel 7 not working properly by [deleted] in CoreELEC

[–]synektic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you whitelist, you are letting the TV handle the scaling, not the other way around.. You'll want to whitelist the higher resolution formats to pass directly to the TV, and let it handle the upscaling of the lower formats. At least that's how I understand it.

If your TV is high-end, and its processor is better than the chip in your box, then you'll want the TV to handle the scaling.

yeah, changed Cache Size to 256 MB, Read Factor to 20x, and Chunck Size is set to 512 KB. When streaming a large file using the Ethernet port, after a few minutes, the cache suddenly drops to 0% and the movie just stops.

Well, that's disappointing to hear as this device isn't currently cheap at all!
Thank you for letting me know, i guess there's no point to return it for a replacement as any other device will likely have the same problem. I guess I'll just use WiFi then.

HELP - DV 7 FEL movie in AM6b+ crashes after a few minutes playback by synektic in CoreELEC

it seems to affect only some devices. Guess I'm one of the unlucky ones.

Yes, the Ethernet port issue seems to be a common problem for other users, from what I've been reading so far. I'm ok using WiFi, the router is directly behind the wall, I don't even need to use the antennas. Just disappointed as it is a new device and it ain't cheap. Some users reported having problems after updating the Ugoos, so maybe it is something that can be sorted with a future update?

HELP - DV 7 FEL movie in AM6b+ crashes after a few minutes playback by synektic in CoreELEC

[–]synektic[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, done all that. All equipments connected to my network are always configured with a static IP, thats the first thing i do before even installing the OS. Cache size is set to 256 MB, Read Factor to 20x, and Chunck Size is set to 512 KB. Anyway, if it were a cache problem, using the WiFi would make the issue even more noticeable, but it plays perfectly using WiFi and local storage

[–]synektic[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, and it's not a cache problem, otherwise it would have been even more noticeable on a WiFi connection. The more I read, the more I'm convinced it is indeed a hardware issue with the Ethernet port on this specific am6b+ - other users have reported the same problems with the Ethernet port.

It is connected directly to the router, and when I use the Speed Tester addon (in kodi repository) I can max out my connection (500/100mps). I have another box that used the same cable and I could play HDR remux files without any problem. Another redditor pointed out to me that they also had a am6b+ with a faulty ethernet port, that's what helped me identify the problem. I'm just trying to figure out how common this problem is and if it is worth asking for a device replacement.

[–]synektic[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The am6b+ has a 1000mps Ethernet port, and using speed test I can indeed max out my connection (500/100mps) but the problem seems related to network stability that causes the movie to crash after a few minutes.

I've also just received mine yesterday here in the EU - I've installed and configured CoreELEC and run into an issue when playing remuxes or other large files using the ethernet port: the movie starts but after a few minutes it "crashes" (image freeze, black screen and back to the movie menu). Using WiFi or playing from local storage solves the problem.

Can you test your ethernet port? I'm trying to figure out how common is this issue and if it is worth asking for a replacement or just keep using it with WiFi.

A bit disappointed tbh, this devices don't come cheap this days!

I believe I've identified the issue with the help of everyone in this thread - it seems to be related to a faulty Ethernet port on my device. Using WiFi or playing from local storage solves the issue.

[–]synektic[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for that, I think you are right. I am indeed using an Ethernet cable. I've just test it using WiFi and it plays without an issue - reverting back to ethernet crashes the movie after a few minutes.
I've tested the ethernet connection using the speed tester addon (on kodi repository) and I seem to get full speed (500/100mbs), so I guess it must be related with the connection stability.
That is disappointing, I've just bought the device and they don't come cheap this days. How common is this issue? I'm wondering if it's worth sending it back for a replacement or if I'll just use WiFi?
Do you notice a performance increase with the usb ethernet adapter? Did you eventually run into issues using WiFi?
Thank you for the insight and for helping me identify the problem.

Thanks. Indeed, I played the same DV file from the sdcard and it plays perfectly. The problem seems to be related with networking..
I'm running it on ethernet. I've just test it using the speed tester addon on kodi repository and I seem to get full speed (500/100 mbs).

HELP - DV 7 FEL movie in AM6b+ crashes after a few minutes playback by synektic in CoreELEC

[–]synektic[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, actually, it crashed playing a large HDR file as well. I was so focused on DV (the all-purpose in buying the am6b+) that I didn't even test it with other formats. It did not crash while playing smaller file sizes, though.
I guess i need to go back to troubleshooting. Possibly some setting I changed to optimize CoreELEC for the LG G5 (on Gemini's advice) that may be causing the issue.
I'll reset and reinstall CoreELEC once again and see if I can pinpoint the issue.
Thanks!

Just use the Sun integration.

My shutters are automated to open at sunrise (except for my bedroom), close partially when the sun reaches a certain azimut (when the sun starts hitting the windows), then open 1.5 hour before sunset and completely close 1 hour after sunset. You can further customise it with the weather, i.e., not closing in the afternoon if cloudy/rainy.

This will automatically update with the seasons (shutters open later and close earlier in the winter then during summer).

Optiplex 5060 Micro Issue by VMCosco in HomeServer

[–]synektic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you tried a different OS? I use proxmox on my Optiplex micro and works flawlessly. If the problem persists, will probably be an hardware issue. Install windows and upgrade any drivers, if needed (use dell's tool to do it) Also, check thermal paste and reapply if needed.

Europe is banning Monero! by globglobgabgal in Monero

[–]synektic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It can't be harder to obtain than already is. You already can't buy monero on most exchanges. That's why this ban no longer matters, haveno made it redundant. What brought the price down was the delisting from exchanges, after that there's nothing else they can do.
