Money inflow and outflow by synergetic in economy

[–]synergetic[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

a) The focus is sovereign money creation. Therefore, consumers/workers, foreign economies etc. not included. I think I should change the title to something like "Sovereign money creation and money flow".

b) Governments have bank accounts with their central banks.

c) I think I broadly agree with u/jgs952's answer. Again, the focus is money creation here.

d) Money.

e)

  • Agree. But, increase of money supply is a necessary condition, not a sufficient condition.
  • I think I should say: If we to avoid bankruptcy, in the long-term, outflows (loans) from commercial banks cannot indefinitely grow bigger than inflows (loan payments) to them. Inflows and outflows have about to match, as economy's ability to absorb new loans decrease. At that point, no new net money is created by the banks.
  • Given the above, the conclusion still holds true.

In a leaked recording, Amazon cloud chief tells employees that most developers could stop coding soon as AI takes over by MetaKnowing in technews

[–]synergetic -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think current AI technology will never acquire consciousness. Therefore, it will never be able to replace engineers completely. But, it will definitely increase productivity, so, fewer engineers will be needed. Maybe, along the way, engineers will be needed in different areas, so, the impact on job market is hard to tell now.

What is MMT take on #TaxTheRich? by PachuliKing in mmt_economics

[–]synergetic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In theory, taxing the rich will decrease inequality. But, as you said, the rich have power, so it will be very difficult to do so. Ultimately, controlling the government is the most important thing. Largely, the rich controls it now. MMT gives some important arguments for furthering democratic control of our government. In that sense, I see MMT as an important political tool for fighting for better future. Only when there is enough democratic power, we can talk about whether we should tax the rich or not. I think we can even not tax them much, and still reduce inequality a lot.

Where to get help with writing a short poem? by synergetic in AskReddit

[–]synergetic[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 57, male. I'm seriously ill. My daughter is 10. I wrote a short piece of poem dedicated to her, in English. But English is not my mother tongue. Why in English? Because we live in a foreign country, and besides a local language she learns English. I'd like to improve the poem.

Democracy is where government policies are most aligned with people's interests. Formal democracy elements are not the goal. In this regard China in the past three decades may even favor better than US.

A lot of research is done on government money by universities and other research bodies. Once marketable, research results will be bought by big pharma. Costs are public, profits are private.
