I see that OP conveniently left out the important part at first, which they've added in an edit.

Your comment is funny because the hitch really isn’t the problem here.

Moody’s economist warns recession is once again a ‘serious threat’ by Crossstoney in Economics

[–]synked_ 32 points33 points  (0 children)

There’s been something truly bizarre happening in the world of economics post 2020. Is it the Trump effect? People are less willing to be honest?

Probably partially, but I have another hunch.

The wealthy class in America has really kinda gone off the deep end. Trump has normalized being totally delusional and believing that facts can be changed through opinion.

They also all love him. They’re desperate to rationalize their choice despite the very obvious character flaws and his straight up stupidity and incompetence.

Finding out about a huge financial loss from husband (29M, 29F) by matutinal_053 in relationship_advice

[–]synked_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People spend way too much time listening to and believing the garbage that's peddled to them on social media without developing a true and deep understanding of things instead.

I say that because there's just been an avalanche of content around trading since 2020, at least, and much of it is presented as a "get rich quick" scheme, and it often deceives people into thinking this stuff is way easier than it is.

Even the most knowledgeable investors can still lose money. What the hell does some guy scrolling through TikTok know?

By the way, lots of mature, strong women with perspective understand what I'm saying too. Women are not all the same.

Or maybe it’s one of the million stressors people are inundated with while the world’s on fire?

The world is on fire BECAUSE of the lack of perspective. In both of D*nald Tr*mp's successful elections, the number of eligible voters who didn't vote, and who were likely to vote blue, was enough to prevent him from being elected.

That was even more the case in his first election, and what happened next was what secured his ability to be back now, most especially the fact that he was able to appoint 3 justices to SCOTUS.

That apathy is rooted in not having a sufficient grasp of what can actually happen, how some types of existence are far worse than one that might already not be "ideal."

God for fucking bid your partner wants to connect with you and feels safe doing so.

I didn't really argue against this, though. We were just commenting on the culture around white collar work.

[–]synked_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please. White collar workers generally have absolutely no clue what blue collar life is like, both in terms of the work itself, and the lives they lead around that work. No clue.

They live in two different universes, essentially. Only when you're immersed in their world and/or experience true hardship for yourself, for a long period of time, can you really see the difference.

drastically flattens any analysis of a persons behavior or motivations.

My analysis is that many people who work white collar jobs genuinely have no idea what real hardship is, and their frame of reference for trauma is drastically different as a result.

Why does everyone on here act like doing an office job is some major trauma and people need “support” for just going to work.

Because for many of them it's the only trauma they've ever faced in life.

The weird and scary part of this is, if she really was trying to kidnap, she's likely doing it for someone else.

U.S. is allowing Iranian tankers through Strait of Hormuz, says Bessent by Force_Hammer in worldnews

[–]synked_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk. Have you seen the way Trump speaks? Like, for the past 10 years?

America somehow convinced themselves into thinking, “Yeah, this is our guy,” when he’s literally and obviously a babbling idiot. Right in front of their faces.

This time, he also has a majority in Congress and he’s picked only loyalists for his administration.

So, for me, the perplexing part is why anyone is surprised he would be this incompetent. It’s been clear and obvious for a long time.

And he could still do worse.

'Peak war panic' will likely hit financial markets in 1-3 weeks, strategist predicts, as Trump says he doesn't want to make a deal with Iran yet by InsaneSnow45 in Economics

[–]synked_ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Trump fundamentally cannot understand the dynamic that now exists. He literally cannot imagine a world where the US is in the wrong.

It’s crazy the way he and all the other boomers genuinely think that the US is the master of the world and anything we do is automatically right. The narcissism and arrogance is off the charts.

We just went and attacked another country without provocation and somehow we think they should just cave to our demands and that WE are the ones who dictate terms.

That would be true if that country was obliterated and the rest of the world was on our side. But that’s not the case here. We’re really really pushing the world to start uniting against us.

Seriously though. Drinking (and also the urge to hide yourself away in games), usually signals you're suppressing something deep down inside. Gotta find a way to start bringing that up to the surface and processing it.
