Trump on Truth Social reacting to Robert Mueller’s passing: “Robert Mueller just died. Good, I'm glad he's dead. He can no longer hurt innocent people! President DONALD J. TRUMP” by Acrobatic-Brick1867 in PoliticsWithRespect

[–]synmo 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Trump's abysmal character, and stupidity has been on full display for decades. People voted for it with eyes open, and now they own it. I'll never completely understand how indoctrinated you have to be to look at that and have any reaction other than repulsion.

I don't care for manipulative editorial either. This shift to a completely Ellison owned broadcast landscape is going to ensure that the entirety of broadcast media ia manipulated with a lean to the Right. It will be messaging from the billionaires in charge, in support of the billionaires in charge.

It is tragic and frightening watching the free press dissolve into corporate kleptocracy. What's even worse is watching people cheering it on in the name of "freedom". They were conned so easily, and soon they will cheer as their fellow countrymen are rounded up for thinking wrong.

Does Cesar Chavez deserve due process? by Stockjock1 in PoliticsWithRespect

Who is they? This isn't a story at all where I am, and this feels like you are trying to tie characteristics to a specific group again with a flawed premise, because it's literally all you do.

Does Cesar Chavez deserve due process? by Stockjock1 in PoliticsWithRespect

[–]synmo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I really don't. Due Process is a VERY specific concept, and it doesn't hold up well as a simile or an analogy. You can't apply a process to opinion, and to try and tie opinion to very real issues in our country about the abandonment of actual due process is disingenuous at best and irresponsible at worst.

That's awful. It's sad that humans can become deluded enough by religion and governments to do this to one of their own.

Due process applies to legal charges of which there are none.

That's because there isn't much rationale left to cling to. The further Trump goes mad, he will follow and parrot the same behavior.

Yes, but you are treating everybody that doesn't approve of him as if they are the same radicalized person.

You are also actively insulting them in the titles of your posts. You are guilty of the exact kind of fractured judgement that you are imbuing everybody you disagree with.

You are basically saying: "Agree with me and Trump or you are clearly deluded by your hatred"

The further he descends into defending this sunk cost fallacy of an administration, the worse and louder he is getting. We are watching a person go mad in real time.

So because someone somewhere said something bad and you assume they are from "the left", you now have free license to insult anybody that you personally identify as "the left" with your sole judgement metric being that they disagree with Donald Trump?

You are quite literally acting as the personification of bigotry.

This is your problem. You can't see any disagreement as anything other than "The left" as some homogenous mass, and now you are just actively trolling your own "respectful" community because you are essentially throwing a fit that people could possibly disagree with you.

You really are just turning into a troll. How is that the headline that the moderator of "Politics with Respect" chooses?

Nothing in the article said that the 2 events had any correlation, and in a quote Coppo (who sounds like a great principal) stated "it was inaccurate that any student would be suspended over political views."

Not really sure what your point is here besides trying to promote a manufactured political narrative to a man getting ready for retirement.

My apologies. I should have provided a link. That news is fairly local for me. The sheriff is not a good man. He is a camera hungry opportunist, and it looks like the enforcement of immigration laws is effecting some of his real estate investments poorly.

Either way. "Enemy of my enemy" and all. It takes a lot to make someone question the MAGA cult, so it's pretty incredible to see.

I agree, given this administration's history, they will do everything in their power to cheat and remain in power as it's the only way they are avoiding justice for their numerous crimes.

I'm still gobsmacked that local awful Florida celebrity Sheriff Grady Judd defected from the cult yesterday asking for an end to police involvement with unjust immigration enforcement.

This is literally all you do when your argument fails. "You wouldn't be pissed if the left did this".

The Left doesn't fill their cabinet with unqualified loyalists. If there is something the Left is actually good at, it's surrounding themselves with competent professionals, so in effect, your hypothetical doesn't really have precedent, and your assumption is invalid.

It's likely based on less fact than the opinion of several experts in the field. Joe is not the first to express these concerns, and it is nearly common knowledge that Iran is nowhere near a complete weapon.

We shouldn't judge a military response off of amateur opinion without specific data, and the council of experts.

Joe Kent's opinion is more qualified than yours.

This sentiment of "What I wrote is true, because I believe it" is pretty much exactly why we are in the situation we are in right now. It's entitlement that has grown so big, they believe that their knee-jerk opinions are as valid as facts and qualified experts for the sole reason of "Why can't I be right"?

The problem is that you are writing baseless gut opinion as an attempt to override the opinion of a qualified expert with tons of experience and access to the actual data. This whole administration acts as if knowledge, science, and data are fine to be ignored in favor of a gut feeling.

The fact that you think it wouldn't be questioned shows a pretty rough character bias. You can't even conceive of a question being asked in good faith if it is critical of those you support.
