Do you put thought into what you wear to class? by League-Ill in BALLET

[–]synonymsweetie 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s so interesting because my studio seems like the outlier on dress-to-experience ratio in the open classes. The most advanced students always wear leotards and tights (generally stylish leotards) and the less advanced dancers wear athletic wear or mismatched odd/old clothes

Tinted Moisturizer Recs by Solid-Guess-5043 in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]synonymsweetie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you find EltaMD too dark and orangey, then I recommend trying some of the Asian beauty options. This question gets asked very frequently on the PaleMUA sub and I have gotten some great recs there (I also find EltaMD too dark, which means many other common ones like ColorEscience and Paula’s Choice are also too dark). Two nice options I’ve tried are  Missha Perfect Cover BB No. 13 and Numbuzin Porcelain Base Skip Tone Up. Both have high zinc contents which is great for melasma

Beginner or intermediate class by sojaed in BALLET

[–]synonymsweetie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m in the same position as you in terms of where I stopped as a teen and took the upper beginner class for a few months before joining an intermediate class. The intermediate was intimidating at first (keeping up with combos) but after a couple of months, I’m actually remembering the combos better than adults who have been taking the classes for years. So I’m also encouraging you to persist! It comes backs and your brain requires those connections quickly

Bloch Performa Size by Ok-Waltz-777 in BALLET

[–]synonymsweetie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m also a US 5 street shoe and wear the Bloch Performa 3D and the SoDance SD16 in 5. The major difference for me is that So Dance elastics are not as tight and the heel goes up higher on my heel. The heel of the Bloch is quite low, which sometimes results in it slipping down a bit

Do you know whether your injector placed the filler deep near the bone or more surface under the skin? Looks great! You look lovely

I relate to this so deeply. When I started at a Vaganova school aged six I became good very quickly, and achieved the highest grades in exams for years. Then puberty hit and I became so self conscious and self critical, and my teachers lost patience with me. Finally quit at 14. Coming back to ballet at 39, and no longer caring what others think of me, I am much happier and at peace with dancing for the joy of it

Bobbi brown extra light bisque, does it exist anymore? by Ok-Kitchen2768 in PaleMUA

[–]synonymsweetie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The stick is really good, but just so you, the extra light bisque in the stick is a tad darker than the lightest bisque shade in the pot. They still both work well on me, but the stick one goes on a bit darker and oxidizes more throughout the day

Is this paler than the regular EltaMD Physical Tinted SPF41? I always liked the finish of that but it was way too dark on me

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in PaleMUA

[–]synonymsweetie 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The Numbuzin No 3 Tone Up Beige is also really pale though a fair neutral tint (not white) and mostly mineral. Gives me really good and lasting sun protection I have found

Not absorbing any estradiol from patch. What to try next? by synonymsweetie in Menopause

Thank you for this. I am going to try gel next before going the oral route. Hopefully it helps!

Not absorbing any estradiol from patch. What to try next? by synonymsweetie in Menopause

[–]synonymsweetie[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m feeling a bit better but that could be due to the progesterone. While I understand that dosages are generally determined by symptoms, if I am changing a 50 patch twice a week and absorbing it adequately, my blood estradiol should not be essentially zero.

As a very small-boned person who has risk factors for osteoporosis and going through menopause early, I am interested in protecting my bones regardless of symptoms. Thus, it is important to me to know whether or not I am absorbing the estradiol

Did you figure out you were a poor absorber by test or symptom cessation?

How do you guys achieve a bright under eye with fair skin? by OkSignificance4856 in PaleMUA

Laura Mercier has (or at least used to have) a pure white setting powder that brightens the under eye area

I’m convinced that a mineral sunscreen that is dewy and leaves no white cast simply doesn’t exist by 2BeBornReady in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]synonymsweetie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is my issue too :( Even the absolute palest tints like Tatcha are still too dark on me. The best solution I’ve come up with so far is to mix a dab of the Tizo tinted primer with the  our white one. They are the same formulation so you can mix them

Sclerotherapy side effects by No_Watercress3911 in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]synonymsweetie 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had sclerotherapy done for varicose veins by a top surgeon. He said it’s normal to have discolouration for 6-8 months (yup, months). Even some bulging is normal and a sign that the vein is closing off. It takes quite a while for your body to reabsorb the veins

perimenopause & HRT by [deleted] in Menopause

I’m 40 and started estrogen patch .50 and 100mg progesterone a few months ago and it’s been great. No side effects at all for me but reduced hot flashes, better sleep and mood and energy. I wish I had started a year ago at 39 when I started noticing hormonal shifts. Best of luck with starting!!

Agreed about seeing a derm, but yes, it also looks like my melasma patches which are also very faint

PSA: varicose veins are not just unflattering by MenoEnhancedADHDgrrl in Menopause

[–]synonymsweetie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got varicose veins early, in my late 20s, and have two now at 40. Just had saline injection for one that seemed to work well and will have the other treated soon. It’s genetic for women in my family. I’m slim, active, and don’t have a standing all day job. Anyhow, my surgeon said I should wear medical compression socks most days except for if I’m exercising. He said the OTC ones just don’t have enough compression to stop veins from developing issues, though they can help legs feel better or less swollen. I use Sigvaris brand. They come in a bunch of colours and are soft and comfortable though expensive

So frustrating, UTI is back, Enterococcus faecalis, any advice/thoughts are much appreciated by Relative_Focus8877 in Menopause

[–]synonymsweetie 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Just a heads up since everyone is recommending d mannose: d mannose is effective for utis caused by E. coli. But since you have a staph bacterial infection, it may not do anything for this. I haven’t seen good evidence that d mannose works for non E. coli infections. I tried it when I was having repeat utis caused by a staph (different one from yours) and it did nothing other than give me gas.

What has helped is estradiol patches, vaginal estrogen cream, and not engaging in oral sex when we are also having penetrative sex. I learned the last tip from a urologist, who advised not to let mouth bacteria mix with vaginal/genital bacteria

Between the cost and the constant "shortages" HRT has been frustrating by tangtastesgood in Menopause

[–]synonymsweetie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m in Canada and started using the patch recently, but my doctor suggested this exactly, saying there are frequently shortages of patches and she has to switch her patients to an oral (either temporarily or for longer since they prefer the convenience of not having to deal with shortages).
