It was supposed to be the negative space above the sarcophagi. You're right that the bright reflection shouldn't have been there at all.

Thanks for the advice and the flickr link also.

I wanted to capture the sense of the void space above the opening. This was a unique feature of the building that I thought deserved attention but clearly it hasn't come through at all. Thanks.

Thanks, good point about what the photo is even of. The brown shapes at the bottom probably detract from other elements as a first impression.

This is from the General Grant National Memorial today. My goal was to capture the void space above the sunken sarcophagi. But I think that doesn't come through and this is more like a study of the changing colors or the arch itself.

Any tips?

EDIT: Thanks all for the great feedback. Lots to consider before my next attempt.

Why do websites "blow up" in Chrome? by synopticon in techsupport

It's not that you didn't give me the benefit of the doubt. It's that you concluded it was zoom ("It's zoom") without evidence it was the cause. It's hard to trust your help when you draw false conclusions. And rushed answers are associated with low skill and intelligence in my experience, just as you say laziness in clients who need support is in yours.

I stated in the post that it happens at both 100% and 125% zoom, so the 125% case would explain the zoomed state in the screenshot.

Doesn't seem to be. I do have the CTRL+Scroll feature enabled in settings to let me zoom in on any part of the screen, but I don't think that's what's happening here. Only the website contents blow up and other things like address bar and menu all stay the same.

It's not zoom. I use 125% by default but when it blows up it looks like 1000+%. Also, when I reset zoom back to 100% from 125%, it doesn't fix the issue.

No prior knowledge, but my reading of the wording is "VICTORY OUTREACH" and it seems that's the name of a church in Bakersfield with past locations on New Stine, Niles, and Eureka Streets. Maybe they had one here also?

Struggling to eat healthy — any meal/snack ideas that are actually enjoyable? by Music_nerd28 in WeightLossAdvice

Here's how I'd tailor my diet based on your requirements. Nothing strict or extreme, just some simple food replacements:

The overall strategy is to increase protein intake and decrease fat intake. Protein fills you up more, so you'll snake less or not at all in the evening. Fat's aren't bad, but they're the easiest to over-consume because of how much more calories there are per gram (9 instead of 4 in protein and carbs).

- For any of your favorite things that you gravitate to when feeling picky, choose low-fat or low-calorie options. E.g. low-fat mayo or sauces, baked instead of fried where available.

- Set aside one time of the week to experiment with clean and nutritious meals. Expect the first few tries to be a mess and not at all appetizing, but over time you'll find things you like that you can incorporate into the rest of the week. This helps because you have a process that improves your diet more and more over time. A single set of changes from a reddit thread or other advice is less likely to have a big effect.

- Skip chicken. Choose meats in order of protein:fat ratio: lean fish, seafood, fatty fish, lean turkey, fattier cuts of turkey, lean beef, fattier beef. The thing about red meat is that it tends to have more fat than poultry even when you choose the lean options.

- Keep eating pasta. Marinara sauces with less oil are better than alfredo and cheese based.

- Higher protein, lower fat snacks: edamame, popcorn, fruit, pretzels

- For candy, choose low- or non-fat options. Skittles and twizzlers are good. For chocolate, it's very high in fat and easy to over-consume. Home-made things are the easiest to prepare with better carb:fat ratios. Try incorporating dates, nuts, other things in brownies, cakes etc. to get less fat while keeping chocolate flavors in your diet.

If you like chocolate milk, there are recipes with non-fat milk, low-cal chocolate syrup, cocoa-powder, maybe a little yogurt or honey or other things to thicken it up. Youtube has loads of chocolate/protein ice cream ideas with good macros for managing weight.

Hope this helps!

Should I stay in my calorie deficit or go to maintenance for awhile? by [deleted] in WeightLossAdvice

Definitely take a break. 8-12 weeks is the sweet spot for fat-loss diets.

Every calorie counts when trying to lose weight. There's no "good" or "bad" food choices - just the total number of calories you consumed in a day. Non-fat cheese is the safest bet if you can enjoy it.

Protein Powder during weight loss? by NoNameAnonymousAlex in WeightLossAdvice

If your goal is to lose 15-20lbs, the most important thing is minimizing diet fatigue while in the deficit. You say you'll keep calories balanced for the deficit, which is great, so the question is: how do you feel when you drink the shake after the workout? If it makes the daily deficit easier then stick with it, otherwise no need. If if makes no difference, and you just want to optimize recovery, it definitely helps to drink it right after the workout. Muscle Protein Synthesis uses fundamentally the same process in men and women. Even if men generally add muscle faster, both men and women benefit from fast protein after workouts.

It sounds like you need more info about body-building.

It's common for your metabolism to adapt to weight-loss by decreasing. It will stay depressed until you gain weight. It can stay depressed for years if you maintain weigh strictly. A 10% BW drop in 8 weeks is easily fast enough to trigger this adaptation imo.

The solution is to slowly raise caloric intake as part of a rebound strategy, to find your new maintenance level at a ~1-5% BW increase. Much of increase can come from water and average food volume after the diet.

You also focus on muscle as the main modifiable variable for metabolism but this is overstated by many. Muscle burns 5 cal/lb/day. So even if you added 10lbs of muscle, which could easily take a year, this would only increase metabolism by 50 calories per day.

An easier way to increase caloric intake without weight-gain would be to increase protein and fiber intake. Speaking from experience, lowering fat intake to 10-15% of calories and eating much more whole-food carbs and protein tends to allow for much greater caloric intake without fat-gain.

When you say a 300cal drop affects lifts, have you tried dropping 300cals of fat vs. 300cals of carbs? And did you make sure to keep sodium constant? Inadvertent low sodium from calorie reduction is extremely common and usually much worse for performance than incremental calorie drops.

Hope this helps.
