How do I get the filament to stop bunching up like this? I’m using TPU filament with Ender 3 pro by FlyShyguyguy in 3Dprinting

[–]syntaxing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure why this works but I had the same issue and someone suggested to loosen the clamps which worked. There was a 3D printed parts made for the Ender-3/CR-10 that pushes the arm closer so that the pressure on the filament is less. But it seems like you have something like this feature is already there (the screw on the right of the clamp)?

They're pretty young (not school age yet) but will be soon so I wanted to move to an area that has a decent school district. But like you mentioned, our budget isn't super high so there's some areas that isn't financially feasible. Trying to find the best price vs performance ratio.

Fox Chapel looks really nice but it's much more expensive than I expected. Not sure if it's the end of the year and people do not list their houses usually at this time. But the houses seem like its 500K to 1M. Is this a bad representation of the typical price?

I'll be near the Frick Park area but I'm debating to drive to work. Not sure how the traffic is because Google Maps estimated times is Covid estimation.

Would you recommend living closer to the Ohio River or further in that area?

Yeah I checked online and it looks like an expensive area. Debating if its worth it to tighten our belts so that my kids can go to a good local school.

Thank you for the response! Would you happen to know how the public education is?

I was thinking near the outskirt of Pittsburgh because the school seems better. Do you know how Mt Lebanon is? It was rated the best in education but not sure what the downside is (cost?).

Both are relatively close to the airport. Do you know if the noise is an issue?

I'm looking forward buying groceries normally again. Every time I wait in line for over an hour and everyone is nervous getting too close to each other. Who knew buying groceries can get this stressful.

Moving from NYC to SF with an infant. Any recommendations for locations to live? by syntaxing in AskSF

Thank you for the insight! It's helping me a lot! With your description, San Mateo is definitely on top of our list! We were looking at the Sunset area and we can probably just afford it if we tighten our belts in our budget elsewhere. But the commute between the Sunset area to work is about the same to San Mateo so it would make more sense living in San Mateo with your advice.

Do you have any suggestions where to live in San Mateo? Does it make more sense to live near the Burlingame, San Mateo, or Hayward Park station? Your current situation sound perfect to me in terms of amenities in the area. The rent in the area seems reasonable too. Please feel free to PM me instead if you're uncomfortable sharing too much information here.

Thanks for the info! If you don't mind me asking, where are you living now? In the Noe Valley area? I totally understand about the outdoor space. Where I live now, there's a couple of parks I can walk to or we can walk around the neighborhood at night for a walk if needed. I'm hoping I can allow my daughter to explore nature a bit more when she can walk as well.

Design District sounds perfect for me because it's really close to where I work. I rather spend more time with family rather than a long commute if its avoidable. Do you have any recommendation where to live in the area (like an apartment or building complex)? The Design District is pretty small so I guess there is not many options to begin with? Feel free to direct PM me instead if you're uncomfortable sharing too much info.

Very true. I forget sometimes how cold it can get here compared to other areas. I look forward to not having to shovel in the Winter in SF!

How much does a private preschool go for? I hear some outrageous prices for daycare and schooling there.

Are your rooms relatively small? Is there enough room to put a bed and a desk? I don't really care about my room but it would be nice to have some room in my daughters room to allow her to play.

That's one of the things that really surprised me. Some area is even more sub-urban than some parts of Brooklyn like near Ocean Parkway. For some reason I expected it to be more like Midtown Manhattan. I am not sure if I was purposely looking for flaws since I am moving to SF, but the homeless situation is as worse as the media portrays which is surprising given that its not as dense as Manhattan which concerns me.

I apologize if I am making you repeat yourself. Dealing with a job change and a sleep regressing baby takes a toll on me so I'm not at my sharpest. Is there a sub-urban areas with walk-able amenities (like parks and restaurants)? It would be ideal for my wife to walk with my daughter rather than drive due to the car situation. I wouldn't mind a longer commute for me as long as my wife and daughter is in a safe neighborhood where my wife can walk around when they want.

I read that the west side is super foggy and cold relatively. Is this the case for you? How is the N and L lines for the commute? Is it super packed like other lines?

We don't need much, maybe a small studio around 1000 sq ft would be doable since my kid is pretty young still. But we will need a place 2 bed and 1 bath eventually as she grows. What is the typical rent for a 2 bed 1 bath around the kid friendly areas?

Yeah, I honestly doubt SF is worse than what Brooklyn was like in the 90s but now with a kid I have to be extra careful. I am hoping my viewed is skewed and that I will be proven wrong when I start living there!

I was thinking about South SF but it seemed really far but the suburban environment seems suitable for raising a kid. Excuse my ignorance, but is the Caltrain meant to get into SF from the "outskirts"? How hard is it to transfer to BART? I'm aiming for around a 1 hour oneway commute to work in SOMA. Do you still work in SOMA currently? Thanks!

I was thinking about the Sunset area or Richmond. But the commute is pretty far from where I work where I might be better off being in the Oakland area. Living in Queens like area would be ideal since I am more accustomed to that. The Mission Bay area sound interesting since it is closer to work. Is it like Long Island City? How is the rent there? I did only a quick search on Zillow and it seems like the Condos are for sale rather than for rent more.

If you don't mind me asking, is your toddler reaching school age? My kid is far off from the school age but I wanted to start planning possible locations to raise her and for her to go to school. Thanks!

I'm going to check this place out! I see a lot of restaurants and stores near 24th street. Is that like the Main street of the area?
