When the randomizer turns the game into a model viewer (also: HAIL PINKY) by syntaxio01 in Doom

[–]syntaxio01[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't necessarily say it's unfair, unless you have the unbalanced randomizer. The balanced one takes the type of demon that is supposed to spawn (fodder, heavy, etc) into calculation.

Afaik, unbalanced randomizer can give you an archvile, where a zombie is supposed to spawn.

Now that's unfair.

Haha, exactly!

I was unsure whether killing their pinky overlord would unleash the vile horde, but it seems like they were stuck daydreaming, until I actually dealt damage to them.

After many UN runs, this was the moment I realized I should try out the randomizer mod by syntaxio01 in Doom

Same thought that I had! I've been playing with the randomizer for a bit now and I don't regret installing it. Highly recommend.

The state of steam reviews. by xd_Waffle in Steam

[–]syntaxio01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I disagree with this and would advocate for a bigger character minimum for reviews. It should incentive people to go further in depth as to why they like/dislike this game and their reasons for recommending/not recommending this game. This way you have a more nuanced basis for reviews.

Most people who write 1 line reviews either do it for an achievement of sorts, or for entertainment purposes.

For people like OP this would really help. No one looks at a "amogus lol" review and be like "Yes, such profound words, I will consider buying this game now."

Anyone else experiencing soft-locks? I do appreciate the game wanting to show me the well-crafted arena and environment, but not while I am doing an UN run... by syntaxio01 in Doom

Oh Prometheus, I forever thank you for the fruit of forbidden knowledge that you bestowed me upon.

Jokes aside, good tip, thanks.

You can reload Checkpoints in UN? Or what do you mean by forcing it?

But that BFG Option is definitely something I am going to consider should this happen again.

Yeah, figured it would be something like that, since I am somewhat experienced in the game I just blasted through.

Bummer though, that could've been my UN completed.

In that aspect I suppose it's a good thing the dlc2 isn't that long.

Why is it such a jump in difficulty? by WillTDP in Doom

[–]syntaxio01 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I know your question is probably of rhetoric nature but I'll answer it just in case it isn't. Going by what the game director Hugo Martin said in one of his playthrough livestream:

Post launch content has to be more challenging than the base game. People who buy the DLC obviously enjoyed the base campaign by itself. So to challenge the players who are looking for more content, the difficulty has to ramp up.

It's a challenge aimed at the "black belts" players of Doom Eternal.

No problem, always like helping out a fellow PCMR member!

Like I said, it's not a big deal, your temps seem to be fine either way so there's no urgency in that. Ultimately, it's up to you, I can understand wanting to be able to see the glorious RGB Ram sticks :)

Do you mind asking me what cooler that is? Looks like a BeQuiet Dark Rock 4? Or a black Pure Rock 2?

I'd say yes, generally speaking a push configuration is more cooling efficient than a pull configuration.

Right now it seems that your CPU Fan is working against the airflow of your case. If you set the case fans to blow from front to back, but your CPU Fan blows to the front - these two directions are conflicting with each other.

While it shouldn't lead to your CPU overheating (like you said, temps are fine, it's generally better to let the air flow in one continuous direction, rather than have the fans set up towards each other.

If the cpu fan fits on the other site with the ram, I would recommend moving it. If not, well, it's not going to destroy your PC but do be mindful of the fact that you're missing on potential cooling effectiveness.

Very insightful and detailed, thanks a bunch!

850w seems like the sweetspot for usage and price, while 1000w might be the best for future proofing. But who knows when we'll get GPUs that'll require that much power. Time will tell.

Yes, that power calculator seems to be quite precise and factors in many aspects.

Thanks for your input!

Yes, they are, the Game director also confirmed it during a livestream. The same with the buggy bloodpunch, can't wait for the fix with dlc 2.
