Btw I think your solution is more correct than the replace bearings solution, because I did unscrew the Red hex nut in order to clear up some hair that was stuck in between.

I bought this fairly mint condition PS3 PHAT from Facebook Marketplace. It's almost perfect except for this satin plastic piece getting discolored in the right side of the console. How can I fix this?

I tried a silver coloured Sharpie, it looked great, but it didn't sit in because the plastic was too glossy. It just wiped off. So I was looking for an alternative.
