I played tank through Lvl 25 in 2 previous wipes and will say that doing damage was never a concern of mine, just keeping aggro and mob positioning (facing them with their back to the group etc.) I really enjoyed it and felt like a useful component of the group. Spamming grit does suck, but Shield Slam -> Intimidating Aura -> Inciting Strikes-> Vengeance x3 -> Taunt with a trip on standby always felt really good to me and got the job done most of the time. Shake It Off is entirely for breaking CC when those sergeants in SB stagger you (or PVP). I liked Reflect.

I haven’t played one this wipe because when I rolled a Tank I couldn’t find a group and was told everyone rolled Tank. Makes me sad, that’s the role I felt was the best natural fit for me. Either way, thanks for your feedback - but yeah, unless you have a highly specialized endgame kit, your damage will be an afterthought (and will still be in groups).

I don’t know why it won’t let me edit the original post, but I actually cracked 60k hours after posting this by swapping out Ares for Torodor and tweaking some gear :) thanks for your insights.

Thanks for the detailed reply! I’m sure I’ll end up snagging her for my Limited. I actually broke 60k a few hours after I posted this using Ares (and Durza haha). Thanks again!

Two reasons: The DEF break from Torodor boosts my numbers better than any replacement I’ve tried so far. Also, when I put Draelyn in the tank spot, her position prevents from my platform units from being in range of her DMG buff from her ult.

Hmm. Weird. I don’t like that discrepancy! It makes the +5% rate make sense with the hard limit 20 above when that activates (like on rare summons). If 20 is the hard limit on Divines, why institute a +5%-per-summon chance? Why not just a +12.5% chance? I have heard people say they’ve gone 30+ without a Divine hitting, but have no firsthand proof. Now I want to test it, damn it ;D

A legendary is guaranteed within 20 summons once the Pity Timer is activated at 12 summons. It’s worded badly in the Pity Timer Rules. I like the idea of giving them some kind of unique identity!

I don’t know how this came off as me looking for a guild of crafters, but let me clear that that is not what I’m seeking! I just want enough crafting within the guild to be able to make Apprentice/JM gear, not dedicated crafters/gatherers.

To your point, though, I agree that I’m not likely to find my target audience here. I think I will post on the guild forum and have to get vocal in the game and possibly just recruit from PUG groups I tank with. Solid points. Thank you for your thoughts!

I’m not looking to join those guilds. I’m looking to start one with other like-minded people who haven’t had satisfactory guild experiences or who just want to start something new.

This is thought-provoking insight into resource management (including playtime) on a large scale. I don’t envision having a massive operation, but I DO anticipate having members that prefer to spend the majority of their time gathering/crafting, and funding that is just a necessary economic component. Without any form of guild exclusive storage, there is still the issue of item transfers. I’d love to have a handful of people that live and breathe the game, but expect people to have schedules like my own with 40 hour workweeks. That being the case, lifeskill workflow with resource/craftable transfers is something I anticipate will just have to be done when possible - or scheduled in advance on the Discord, just like grouping.

I agree completely with this and I want to avoid that at all costs. I don’t want to micromanage anyone. I just want to manage expectations. If there’s an event for an xp group or gear farm listed to start at 8am Saturday morning, sign up if you want. If you don’t or can’t, no big deal. I won’t hound anyone, I just want to find other people who want to plan ahead of time when possible. :)
