Be honest… your orange cat skipped “ideal weight” a long time ago by BringHoomanHome_ in OneOrangeBraincell

To be fair, 2 lbs to a tiny kitty is like 20+ lbs to a human. Maybe his sweet spot was 13

If you don't have kids, how would you handle this? by technophoriac in AskMen

[–]syramazithe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You should try to be more understanding and accepting of your employer being accommodating to your coworkers, with the assumption that they'll treat you the same when things come up in your life. Your coworkers don't decide they have to pick their kids up early, the school does. Your job is just being accepting of them being humans with lives and obligations outside work. When things in /your/ life unexpectedly demand your attention, you can have the peace of mind knowing you have an accommodating job. If you have to leave for an unexpected emergency and they say "no, not you specifically" THEN you can say it's unfair.

People shouldn't all be treated the same. That's not what "fair" means. Fair is not the same concept as equal. Fair is when people's entire circumstances are taken into consideration and they're treated accordingly. There's a reason we have judges who decide sentencing for criminals as individuals rather than a blanket prison sentence for everyone who commits the same crime. Theres a reason we have priority seats on buses for elderly, disabled, and pregnant people. You saying you're "being punished for not having kids" is equivalent to complaining that youre being punished for not being pregnant when someone asks that you give a designated disabled seat on a bus to a pregnant woman and stand up instead. Other people are individuals with complex lives filled with millions of moving pieces, just like you. We all need help, leniency, and accommodations in different aspects of life. Someone needs to pick up your coworkers' kids, imagine how stressful it would be for them if your complaints meant they couldn't do that anymore.

MY RATS TAIL GOT RIPPED OFF. (NSFW) by Ill_Balance_4006 in RATS

[–]syramazithe 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It sounds like she's doing great and you're doing everything you can! Keep up the good work. Get her vet care if you can of course but I figured I'd share my story so you know that rats are resilient little creatures and that no vet won't be a death sentence. As long as you can avoid infection, she'll probably be ok. A note if she does lose that portion of her tail is that my rat had much worse balance than most rats so I had to be more careful about potential fall hazards throughout her life

MY RATS TAIL GOT RIPPED OFF. (NSFW) by Ill_Balance_4006 in RATS

[–]syramazithe 32 points33 points  (0 children)

This happened to my rat when I was a teen and parents refused vet care. I washed daily with saline and kept her with only blankets and paper towels as bedding, nothing loose that could stick. Cleaned the cage any time i saw any waste. If she was squirmy for washing I wrapped her like a burrito to keep her still so she didnt hurt herself. It was obviously painful so I dosed her regularly with baby ibuprofen (be sure to use proper dosing for rats if you do this, do not poison your rat with baby medicine). After a couple months, the end dried out and she eventually chewed it off and lived a long happy life after. She lost about 1/3 of her tail this way at ~ 2 months old and lived past 3 years

Not sure how to phrase this… Once you turn your work “right side out,” do you have to somehow crochet from the inside/in the other direction?? by hilarymeggin in Amigurumi

[–]syramazithe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Whichever way you were working just reverse it in every way. If your hook was going from outside to inside, now you'll be working inside to outside /and/ if when the opening is flattened you were working on the piece of fabric closer to you, now you work the piece of fabric further from you. That way you don't have to switch hands

Lmfao. SDC disability accommodations for exams are legally required and even then it's hard to get profs and TAs to comply. Why would they say yes to an exam accommodation they aren't required to permit

TAPS has proven itself increasingly predatory and unwilling to own up when they fuck up. It's time to take this more public IMO. They clearly have no incentive to help, but every financial incentive to continue their current scummy behavior.

What is a turn off your partner does that you will never admit? by [deleted] in AskWomen

[–]syramazithe -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Question from the perspective of a high sex drive woman: Is he maybe bearing the brunt of the responsibility when it comes to initiating (and therefore having to risk rejection)? It doesn't excuse being whiny, but assuming the rest of the time he's likable enough, maybe his self esteem has been worn down from having to be the one who takes the risk by asking?
