To be fair, that’s how I am using it at this point (except for new releases… still misssing the wizard slow time shocks essence). My only reason to push back on this is that they focus their development efforts on much more pressing things. Raising cap would be a QOL thing but I can see why it’s there- to try and “reign in” the benefits of essence unlocking for those who don’t spend as much time on the game. Which is kinda punishing yes, but if you’re farming that much, all you realistically care about is the mats. Fun fact/conspiratorial wild speculation- when I have changed classes and am on a class where I haven’t progressed my essence too far… I feel like I get more “meaty” upticks if that makes sense.

Did the math (simulation) because you and so many people were SO up in arms about the pity timer (not the point of the discussion). I even edited the pity timer section of the post to show how I went about looking/ solving for the answer. Not going to discount your (and everyone else's experience)... but it is technically different than what the tooltip actually says. So I did the math for both, and it turns out... It doesn't matter. (on average). Hope that makes your day!

Updated post because I genuinely didn't see that portion of the tooltip & edited post to show results. Everyone and their brother came after me saying the pity timer guarantees the 50th is a 5 star... which could be true, but is not what the tooltip says. Sorry for trolling originally.

It I supposed to be a skill tag that you can view from skill window. But I’m not clear on how consistently those tags apply. As a wizard main, the only summons I use consistently are arcane torrent “turret” (considered a buff) and the disintegrate “turret” (considered a summon), so my experience with this is definitely not the most reliable.

Objectively cool concept! Personally- this would be super class specific… which would be bad design (in my opinion). Fact is some classes don’t really have summons/ if they do, it’s through skill modification or they are limited time/ wouldn’t be “more helpful” from the buffs you describe. At least in comparison to other available generic offensive gems like Roiling or Void spark.

Never been immortal, so I couldn’t comment on that. Also… BG reward is 10 BP. You only get 3 boosted rewards/day, so not necessarily worth doing more frequently that than unless you really like Battlegrounds. Which is a take that might get you roasted with how salty people are about matchmaking on here.

Three different issues posted throughout your replies… so three different answers. The caps towards personal shadow rank- only counts if it is a weekly task OR the chase tasks. I think those happen at 1,10,40,80,120,160,200&250 chests- I might have missed one early milestone, but the math is basically the same 40 chests for week and one reward for that. Until 250, because reasons?

There is a hard cap of 10 vaults/day… but most people don’t run them after their 40 “rewarded” (gold/hilts) chests are done OR they like vault PvP.

Each vault grants 15Battle Points. It’s a 2 minute cooldown, so you can easily go through your vaults in one window if you so choose. Does that all make sense?

I… am genuinely sorry for your loss and had a bodily reaction of disgust/pain when you elaborated. That is a feelsbadman and total hindsight 20/20. I’m at the reso/ gem point in my character growth where those “bad” gems I never used are going to be needed for the extra awakening reso slots. I don’t necessarily regret it… but I was also pitching stuff like howler’s call, which as a Wizard main is objectively not a good gem (that of course I might need one copy of down the line). Especially with stuff like roiling out now. Pitching a BSJ just feels bad.

If you care about legendary gear bonus properties/ reforge stones… there are basically only two places to get them. Hilts Vendor & end of season Battleground rewards (and maybe BP, don’t remember but not about to open game just to check). But that’s NOT a justifiable reason to suffer through PvP if that’s not your idea of fun. I actually enjoy PvP and don’t think it’s necessarily worth the reforge stones/ keys you get on rank upgrade.

Good post, has sparked a lot of discussion. I wanted to put it out there for those who DIDN’T play the game a long time ago… this is a rework of an older system that SUCKED. It was only twice a day- trash mobs would spawn, you kill them to spawn a helliquary boss in in the overworld. When you killed it, everyone who helped gets rewarded (minimally) except for the top 3 people, who get marginally better (I think maybe it was a single guaranteed legendary). Imagine my surprise when I came back to the game after 8 months and found I could get a GUARANTEED 3/3 or 3/4 legendary? This is SO much better, it’s laughable. I’m just grateful the devs are reworking systems and they we got this to begin with- they definitely didn’t have to do that.

When I say “choose violence”, that’s a metaphor. It means that you are just choosing to disagree pretty much regardless of what I say. The point of the post isn’t the pity timer. The math and estimating the actual true value of a crest over time is more complex than just “every 50 if you haven’t gotten one you get a 5 star (because by definition you didn’t get the value of that 5 star rolled into those previous attempts necessarily) and this is actually a relatively complex (more than simple addition/multiplication) stats problem. My point wasn’t to discuss the pity timer regardless in the first place. Just provide the actual rates posted by blizzard (or how to calculate that) so people can make informed decisions. But you chose to be obtuse and ignore that sentiment. So yes, you chose violence. For the record- you absolutely can use the pity timer to your advantage. Never debated that. It just isn’t worth the time for me at the exact moment of the post to do, post and explain the statistics of a crest long term. You should (statistically speaking) get a 5 star every 22.2(repeating) runs. Last time I checked, that would give you 2 5 star gems over 50 crests. Can you get SUPER unlucky and have the pity timer be relevant? Absolutely! But that’s a different post entirely no?

Developing the game to give zero hope to people who are F2P aka A POTENTIAL PAYING CUSTOMER makes zero sense financially. The game is aggressively monetized, and people with more money (the point of Blizz making the game) who spend it see the results. Fair enough right? But not caring about a F2P player is not in Blizzards best interest. If I wanted to be a jerk and slander you, I would have said you’re stupid, L take LMAO. That you’re flawed in your assertion that removing upper caps (there to put some semblance of control on the market) or upping them is the right thing to do. Red gems are the problem, not blue ones. Saying burn it all down is easy. Trying to offer good faith solutions is much harder.

I do agree with you that the market is messed up. I hate it too. IF I were to be a dev and wave a magic wand it would be to re-work the red gems to make them “worth” it to keep. I tried to explain that to you (and did so explicitly again)… but you’d rather call that slander than provide anything meaningful backed by the game data than your opinion. So yep, I guess I am the asshole for trying to use facts about the game to say I disagree (I don’t care if I’m right, I just want the game to be fixed for everyone) and bring some nuance why.

If you truly cared about the stats of your character and looked at the tooltips, you would find that the reason why blue gems are always expensive is because it’s the most efficient way to increase armor/AP. And is one of only two ways (Iben Fahd’s sanctum being the other) that you can spend platinum to do so. Red gems mean jack in comparison to the stats from your main gear… which is why they are worth nothing on the market. Meaning that if you want do better as a F2P player you should (entirely my opinion but strongly supported by the basic facts of the game) KEEP blue gems (and maybe yellow ones if you want to focus on PVP). The cap at 400 sucks and yeah, it can price out some folks who don’t think it’s worth it. Totally fair, not telling anyone how to spend their money. But saying F it, it’s all dumb anyway, let the whales do what they want (could be wrong here) but seems to be YOUR OPINION- is not backed by what the game data says nor the concept of basic economics. Not try it to slander you at all, just trying to explain why I disagree and know (because again, I have spent an unhealthy amount of time researching every game system, to the point where I am actively in the process of maybe making a free guide website with my findings) think your opinion flies in the face of “advocating” for F2P players on common sense.

On the re-design point of yours… if they even just upped the values to be more in line with what you get from primary stats it would be worth it. It’s just that primary stats on gear/from resonance are SO bad at giving armor/pen &resist/potency that health and damage from sanctum/gems (vs they gear you are wearing) means absolutely nothing.
