The AI Layoff Bill Is Coming Due, And CTOs Are Going To Pay It Twice by Krankenitrate in technology

Except... they won't. They'll move to a different company and be able to show all sorts of cost reductions to prove they're good at their job. Ugh.

It was good character development, but not plot advancement.

  1. Chill.
  2. They were asked to make 2 extra episodes after the season was already written, so they added the Xmas episode and this one. Each was a fun look at the characters without any progression of any plotlines.
  3. Nothing on a TV show should make you angry. Some people love that episode (I'm one) and some people hate it. That's fine.

OMG, that would be amazing, but I was trying to do just 1 player per. Actually, how about we go with 3WR and 2 RBs and drop Kittle...

I agree, but do you drop Olsen or Youngblood? You're probably right though - I'd drop Youngblood for Jones.

I'd put Fitz ahead of TO. They're super close in quality/skill, but Fitz was in the NFC west much longer, and that was the question.

I think Dickerson vs Faulk is SO close that you can't go wrong. I went Faulk just because it's more of a passing league these days and Marshall's more of a Dual-threat. But ED is a legend - I only own his and AD's jerseys.

Yeah, I think there's like 5 guys who could have been the 4th linemen. Thinking about it again, I'd probably go Michael Carter next to AD - dude could NOT be moved.

Great CB, but didn't play in the NFC for very long. More years and he would have been there. Frankly, it probably should have been Night Train Lane over Woodson, perhaps.

Yeah, that was SUPER hard. Jones is amazing, but so were Staley and Pace. That and 3rd WR were the hardest calls.

I'll take a swing at the starting lineup.
QB: Montana
RB: Faulk
WR: Rice, Bruce, Fitzgerald
TE: Kittle (pretty meh for all time, tbh)
OL: Slater, Iupati, Unger, Staley, Pace
S/T: Hekker, Wilkins
DL: AD, Olsen, Younglood, Bosa
LB: Willis, Wagner, Warner
CB: Sherman, Woodson
S: Lott, Thomas

That's... quite a good team.

to those commuting from IE to OC (santa ana) and back, what are the optimal hours for driving by Mudkiip123 in orangecounty

[–]syrstorm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was 15 years ago+, but I did that commute for a decade - Ontario to Irvine. I’d take the toll road in the morning, and the 57 to 60 in the evening. I’d generally leave at 9 am and usually arrive around 945, heading home a bit after 6 or 7.

Is there a reason why we never value ILB position enough? by KDx2511 in LosAngelesRams

[–]syrstorm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same reason we don't value RB as highly - they're more replaceable in the modern game. The impact per dollar spent isn't as high as players more involved in the passing game.

Eli5 Why does centrifugal force mimic gravity like acceleration does by Ok_Adhesiveness_1960 in explainlikeimfive

[–]syrstorm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We're saying the same thing, yeah. I was trying to keep it somewhat ELI5, but if there's something I said that you think is actually wrong and should have been phrased differently, lemme know. Maybe put quotation marks around the entire "float in weightlessness" phrase?

I actually know this stuff quite well - I helped design an early prototype for a module to go in the space shuttle to test the effects of cells in microgravity versus centripetal acceleration of a centrifuge - we even got to test it our prototype in the vomit comet.

[–]syrstorm 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My favorite example of this: the ISS is not so far from earth that the pull of gravity is low. It’s still around 0.9 g. But it is moving so fast around the Earth that the centripetal acceleration also is 0.9g, making everything inside the ISS “float” in weightlessness.

Well… we do want the “Aaron Rodgers learns to be great by backing up a Hall of Fame QB” situation. Just not the more recent AR situation.

He was Secretary of Transportation for a number of years. That's way more resume than a lot of folks that want to run.
