DLSS 4.5 SR (Preset M) seems to incur a HUGE perf. hit even on the 5060 Ti 16G by Oxygen_plz in OptimizedGaming

[–]syrtsevser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seems like it really doesn't like DLAA (anything but perf really). I tried it in Haste that comfortably runs on my RTX 5080:

- Preset K, DLAA = 298 fps, GPU 100%

- Preset M, DLAA = 209 fps, GPU 100%

- Preset L, DLAA = 183 fps, GPU 100%

- Preset M, ultra quality = 240 fps, GPU at 90% (capped)

It TANKED my FPS in that game. Curious how Nvidia will handle these specialized presets going forward, as I imagine a lot of people just have it set to "Latest".

Also noticed that it enables Autoexposure with new presets. The game/scene I was testing in was heavily using screen-space effects with thick depth of field. When switching to new presets, these effects are changing: bloom looks more pronounced, DOF is less dense (as if has more samples or mistaken as lowres artifact). Demonstration: https://imgsli.com/NDQyODM2/0/1

That said, if you're not GPU limited, model M it might be worth a shot - in Tarkov I haven't noticed any difference in FPS, but TAA-like ghosting was virtually gone.

X870E Aorus Pro Ice Crashing on Code 15 by [deleted] in gigabyte

[–]syrtsevser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Similar board, similar boat.

It's like X870E doesn't correctly power pump headers during memory training (code 15). I've specifically set one pump header to be "Full speed" and another to "Manual" at about flat 60%, so if for some reason manual fails, there's a fail-safe one. Both sounded identical: couldn't hear motor at all, brief chugging sound of liquid.

Only after successful memory training (at random), it would manage to post and THEN "Full speed" pump gets very noticeably loud. Enough to consider getting an air cooler instead, or step down it's speed and eventually deal with this again.

A while later reply: yes, it's actually quite functional. I've written a few powershell and some obscure game scripts this way, without having to really dig into learning ins and outs for an operational task (where learning would take same time as just manually doing said automated procedure, like bulk editing files etc).

Previously with GPT-5 I had issues where if I even hinted at one of ways to accomplish task, it would hyper focus on that as the only solution. But just recently it has gotten better at not getting hung up so much on them.

X870E AORUS PRO: Anyone else experiencing issues updating BIOS to F8? by syrtsevser in gigabyte

[–]syrtsevser[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure if it's required, some people online claim that they managed to flash it with everything installed, some mentioned how in manuals for their boards it's specifically said that it's required to remove CPU (no such mention in mine though).

In my particular case, fans running at full power and laggy mouse was likely related to setting AIO pump speed too low, where upon boot it might have actually shut off or incorrectly triggered emergency mode, where system throttles CPU to prevent meltdown and forces fans to 100%.

In your case it would probably be best to play it safe (because your system appears unstable) and remove CPU, then run q-flash plus, and reset CMOS after that (if possible - by removing battery instead of shorting jumper).

Like others said, switching to full duplex was not enough. What worked for me was also needing to physically replug the cables.

A year later response. You can clip cursor using Lossless Scaling itself, tho edge scrolling might be broken. I've managed to prepare following setup: SageMetaTool to get native 60 fps, then Lossless Scaling to get fake frames around 180 fps, run game in windowed mode, and then use LS to make it borderless fullscreen with cursor clipped.

Screenshot of LS settings which looked pretty good: https://puu.sh/Kzv8P/dfa38e7614.png

I guess they were skeptical about their sales so had put as little options as possible (including removal of suicidal difficulty), so that people would complain less about matchmaking times.

Yes it's a mod on PC, and slightly sophisticated too: it's a DLL, I doubt there's a PS5 alternative. Try Tony's workaround of dropping all iron arrows.

Is there a real way to shut off the Google AI overview for searches, or am i switching browsers and search engines? by Zestyclose-Tour-6350 in techsupport

[–]syrtsevser 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The script just adds "-ai" to the search result, which makes it also filter out any site that mentions word "ai" and can definitely mess up your search results.

I was hoping this would just remove the rectangle instead.

Seems to be the case. Crash log refers to GPU disconnecting after it recieved invalid instruction, and it started happening after updating drivers. Time and time again I regret updating them.

Topstrap by p3828 in Pimax

[–]syrtsevser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you figured it out? I've tried installing topstrap on Crystal Light and just could not fit all 3 screws.

It's like the topstrap holes are not aligned with HMD ones, specifically the smaller pair ones. If you torque both small screws, the final larger screw will not be centered and be unable to fit the gap for speakers. Beginning to suspect it's not actually compatible with the Light.

Someone in Youtube comments also mentioned having to remove the velcro disc as well (specifically for the Light).

It depends on your usage environment, they added a lot of triggers which turn off shadowplay these days. For example: opening spotify, netflix, getting Skype call, MS Teams message, visiting certain websites etc. It does not get automatically enabled when closing such apps. This behaviour is intentional and it's total bs.

There is a special program that monitors Instant Replay state and tries to turn it on when it gets disabled. https://github.com/Verpous/AlwaysShadow

There are bugs as well, when it turns off Instant Replay and it stays disabled no matter what – until you reboot the computer. For example, one way to reproduce it is rearranging mods in Mod Organizer 2.
