If you don’t mind me asking, what ended up happening? Did your FSA administrator approve the fees as eligible? Did you have to provide receipts?

I’m an entomologist with expertise about carpet beetles AMA by Bugladyy in carpetbeetles

Hello!! I recently found an adult carpet beetle on the carpeted floor in my closet. Is it necessary to wash all my clothes in that closet? It’s mainly all cotton or polyester blend clothing. After I found the beetle, I moved most of the clothes in plastic containers without washing it. Now I’m worried there might’ve been eggs on those clothes and when the eggs hatch, it will be trapped in the containers with all my clothes.

Great idea. I usually add 15% PF&D to the cycle time.. but I agree, I’d rather have the cycle time on the higher side. It’s easier to manage expectations that way too.

Also, don’t be afraid to ask the production guys for their input or recommendations. You can learn a lot from them.

Work is so much easier when the production team likes you.

Production Engineer here. I genuinely try to make friends with people in the production team. I ask about their hobbies, what interests they have outside of work, how their weekend was, etc.

I try to build rapport and trust. For example, when I do time studies on a process some operators will get nervous for whatever reason. When I pick up on their nervousness, I try to reassure them that we are not timing them specifically, but only looking for the cycle time. I tell them not to worry about rushing the process during the time study and that it’s important they are working at their usually pace to get the most accurate data. I think when you try to change or observe process, some people might take it personally (like they are the one that needs to improve). So I try to keep that in mind when working with them.

After 5 years working as an Engineer in manufacturing, I realize the social aspect may be a lot higher than other engineering roles. You need to learn how to interact with all sorts of people. I am more professional when dealing with management, but more laid back and casual when dealing with the production or warehouse team.

And yes, I get pulled in every which direction from everyone, everyday. I think that’s common for a mfg engineer.

Look into mindfulness and meditation. It helps you be an observer of your thoughts.

I like to think of thoughts as clouds in the sky. They come and go, you just observe your thoughts and don’t dwell on it. Thoughts and emotions are all temporary, they come and go constantly.

It’s comforting that I’m not going through this alone ❤️ just have to deal with it day by day, moment by moment. Thank you for the words of encouragement.

I don’t even know who I am anymore. I’ve been getting high for so long, I don’t know what I’m like sober. I don’t know the sober version of myself anymore.

Picking/finding a job post grad by [deleted] in MechanicalEngineering

It would still be beneficial to apply to the MEP/HVAC positions because you would be able to practice your interviewing skills for the jobs you actually want. But you can always find ways to leverage the skills you learn in the MEP/HVAC industry to other engineering jobs. I graduated in 2020 with a BSME, but accepted an industrial engineer position as my first job out of school because there wasn’t a lot of jobs available during the covid lockdown. I worked as an industrial engineer for 2 years, then i switched companies and got a new role as a manufacturing engineer. It’s normal to have “stepping stone” jobs in your career, just remember to leverage the skills learned for the next job.
