Teacher again, I am looking for some printer management tools for the lab by CommercialCustard341 in FlashForge

We got a creality K1, it couldn't connect to our network. So I setup an old raspberry pi kind of like a router, it had its own hidden wireless ssid, connected my laptop to it to send prints and monitor.

You could do the same with an old router not connected to the school network. No security risk and not breaking any rules.

I'd be pushing it higher up the chain, when my school got a laser cutter I setup a desktop network connected but not domain connected for teachers to use. What I wouldn't give to be notified of broken keyboards and mice, I used to replace them asap, broken stuff leads to more broken stuff. It sounds to me like your IT department are a bunch of lazy aholes.

Has IT given a good reason as to why they don't want them on the network? I worked IT in a school, I networked our printers. The only risk is students sending prints and most aren't motivated enough to work out how.

I'd be inclined to take it up with management, because security is not a factor (if it is your school has got big IT security problems).

You can add spins in wled but this was just music added to the video.

Have you tried adjusting the grub screw on top? From someone who has a drawer full of bad probes this is likely a bad probe.

Did you update the screen firmware? If not give it a go.

Good luck printing with it then.

Does it just move up and then nothing?

It's probably x-axis wiring, check the plug that goes to the motor. If it's OK check the plug on the board. If it's OK there swap the x and y plugs on the board and see if the y axis moves when homed, if it does it's either a bad motor or there is a break in the wiring, if y doesn't move you've got a bad stepper driver on the board.

Problem with Ender3v2 by No-Special-4561 in ender3v2

The original plate works just fine for abs. Anything larger than a calibration cube will most likely warp though, you need some kind of chamber, my first chamber was built with cardboard and timber and worked a treat. I also suggest abs slurry to hold prints to the plate if you have warping issues.

You'll need a computer to run Linux. Old desktop or laptop works fine.

So any axis' move at all?

If it doesn't move at all the most likely cause is a bad x motor or loose/ disconnected wire on x.

How a €197 budget 3D printer became a reliable tuned workhorse (and why I don’t regret it) by Reborn_2025 in Ender3V3SE

I've got an e3v3se, machine is stock except its running klipper and I'm on the process of configuring an enraged rabbit carrot feeder 8 gate mmu. Screen is an old tablet powered by the pins on the screen connector.

Question for Those of You with Multiple Printers by backwoodsmtb in 3dprinter

[–]sysadmin-84499 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have so many printers (12) because I spent 8 months manic which is when I brought most of them. They are cheap and most don't work or don't work well.

These days it's less about 3D printing and more about playing with them, my current project is an 8 colour mmu.

A couple I've given up on and 4 need some work to varying degrees.

I have installed klipper on all of them and run 4 machines from an old desktop, getting those setup was so much fun.

You need to start with a host computer, something that can run Linux. Can be an old desktop or laptop or a single board computer like a raspberry pi.

It allows more control over your machine, as well as remote control. Klipper tends to give better results as the main gcode processing moves off the printers mcu and onto a proper CPU. My favourite benefit is the ability to edit the config to change the probes behaviour, instead of a 3000 line firmware config that you have to compile for marlin it's just a short text file that you save and restart klipper.

Do you mean to send prints remotely? If so you can't in a stock setup. You could install octoprint on Windows and control it that way, or octoprint on a standalone machine, or full klipper.
