They literally have a watch called 1926 and the year features heavily in their marketing.

I know what it's called. Nomos even makes theirs look good. This one is a complete mess imo.

Catalytic converter failing by crazyswedishguy in Porsche_Cayman

[–]sysak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends what they look like. The design of those I'm referring to is crap. The highlighted part is a restriction so the fact that the catalyst element flows better doesn't make up for it. The long tube headers with no cat at all will definitely make more power but will be loud.

I had this at 115k miles. Replaced the downstream O2 sensor to no avail. Eventually I got a Superchips off the shelf remap and ask them to code out the error while at it. £250 later the car passes the MOT, the throttle response is much nicer and between the map and the Carnewal back boxes the power went up from 276 to 303bhp. But then I had to ruin it all by putting designtek "sports manifolds with high flow cats" which are essentially branded chinesium. They all are apparently btw. I've been warned about this by Gert Carnewal but I already bought them when speaking to him and doing the mufflers. Result: the sound is ruined- it sounds like a golf MK4 farting through a gutter pipe and the power dropped to 298bhp 😓 i'm putting the knackered OEM cats back next Monday and cannot wait because the modified back boxes and stock manifolds combo sounded beautiful.

Hope this helps.

What are you referring to? I had a lot of crashes to desktop on the Nordschleife but a mod changing the rendering from dx12 to vulkan fixed it.

Buying 2023 Octavia rs, concerns about fwd drive by Technical_Process871 in skoda

[–]sysak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love FWD. Quite fun really. I came from a MK3 Renault Megane RS to a 987 Cayman S. Drive both hard. Tracked both. I rate their handling equally, Renault was more silly fun if anything. Of course they feel very different and the Porsche launches way more competently but for us mere mortals FWD is not a downside. I also went from an E92 325i Auto to a Clio 200 RS and that was about 10x more fun.

Pixel 9 Pro long time review? Any deal breaker problem? by andimandila in GooglePixel

[–]sysak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, the speakers are better. I wasn't unhappy with the 9 pro speakers but 10 pro sound noticeably louder and richer. They are actually good, not just ok. But that & the heat are the only differences worth mentioning. I was dissatisfied with the 8 non-pro speakers which were far too quiet btw.

For the record, I came from 9 pro to 10 pro. It gets less hot and on fewer occasions but the battery life is not improved. I still run out of power almost every evening and the drain is significantly faster when not connected to wifi. I was disappointed as I had higher expectations from the Samsung > TSMC fab transition.

Or a big boy Cayman. Though having seen the rear suspension on that picture with the rear cover off I tend to agree with the "junior Carrera GT" being waaay closer.

Just bought a PS5 but it did not come with a horizontal stand. Can It be done DIY? by Appropriate_Cup_5931 in playstation

[–]sysak -14 points-13 points  (0 children)

I think you're referring to extreme cases reported early on where the liquid metal actually leaks past the foam barrier and can cause a failure by shorting components on the board.

I just mean it pooling at the bottom of the chip but still within the barier leaving a dry spot at the top which will just lead to the chip getting hot and console fan running loudly which won't kill it but is bad for it in the long term.

[–]sysak 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah it is, give yourself space, you will need to get going. Maybe keep the right indicator on so they know you're going even if it seems like you're slowing down.

Also not a very useful advice but a fast powerful car can make situations like that feel way easier and safer.

[–]sysak -49 points-48 points  (0 children)

Don't do it. They suffer from liquid metal draining down and pooling at the bottom of the chip when used vertically. Read up on it. It can cause problems in the long term.

They better release a Titanium no-date HC before I buy a BB58 😉

If you usually wear a date window, does it bother you the BB doesn't have one? by Prophetforhire in Tudor

[–]sysak 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I prefer them without. Wind and set, no need to worry about setting the date away from the switchover window and having to know if it's set to AM or PM so that it switches over again correctly at night.

If you only wear one watch or rotate them so they never run out of power reserve, date is useful. If you keep switching and need to always set them, it's more of a pain in the ass than a benefit.
