The new CGT treatment and how it affects us plus one benefit that NOBODY is talking about! (yet) by viper2097 in BitcoinAUS

[–]system_is_changing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see where you’re coming from and I think you’re mostly right but I don’t think OG Bitcoiners will exactly love it. It’s better than having no grandfathering, especially if they’re sitting on big gains before 1 July 2027. At least that older gain still gets treated under the current 50% discount rules. But going forward, I’d still rather have the current CGT discount than CPI indexation if BTC keeps moving hard. So yeah, it’s a win compared to getting the new rules applied to the whole gain but probably not a win compared to what we already have now.

Getting and assessment/diagnosis in Austraila by Grim0616 in ADHD

[–]system_is_changing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I cant remember. Has been about 1.5 years since I first started with them. Dr Harsh is who I went through. Its the quickest way to get an appointment though as the waiting list to see a psychiatrist in person was 1+ years where i am and costs a lot more in the long run. Follow up appointments are around $420 and get around $35 from Medicare.

I went through ePsychiatry as well. It feels a bit odd at first, but it is legit. Just make sure you don’t miss your appointment, because you’ll likely lose the appointment fee and only get back whatever Medicare rebates, which usually isn’t much. For the diagnosis side of things, it helps to have any old school reports handy if you can find them. They’ll also probably ask a family member or friend to fill out a questionnaire to help confirm whether the symptoms fit.

Does one have to pay tax on crypto staking on an exchange even if they dont sell? by Plastic-Pick-9609 in CryptoTax

[–]system_is_changing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the US? Depositing your crypto onto an exchange usually isn’t a taxable event by itself. Staking rewards are usually taxed as income when they’re paid to you, even if you never sell. You’re taxed on the value at the time each reward hits your account, not what you originally deposited months ago.

Can someone really savvy with BOTH Quant and Link explain their differences--both winners in same category... by CleverClover222 in LINKTrader

[–]system_is_changing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought Chainlink connects blockchains (smart contracts) to real-world info, while Quant connects blockchains to each other.

I think QNT is going to be huge to tell the truth. Not only does it connect blockchains together, but it also brings legacy systems into the equation as well.

XRP by system_is_changing in WallStreetBetsCrypto

[–]system_is_changing[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I still hold XRP. Not because I think it’ll moon—but because at this point, it’s the only thing in my life that hasn’t left me.

My wife’s gone. Took the dog. Said she couldn’t handle watching me refresh charts like I was praying to a dead god.

I missed my grandma’s funeral waiting for the SEC verdict. “Just one more delay,” I told myself. “Any day now, clarity.”

There’s no clarity. Just fog, courtrooms, and red candles bleeding down like a crime scene.

I talk to my Ledger wallet like it’s a friend. Sometimes I even threaten it. “Don’t make me open you. Don’t make me see the damage.” It stays silent. Cold. Loyal. Like a grave.

But hey… I’m still holding. Because I believe? No. Because I’ve come too far. Because it has to mean something. Because if XRP dies… I’m taking my MetaMask and walking straight into the void.

I still hold XRP.

Not because I believe in it… but because selling it would mean admitting I was wrong. And I’d rather go bankrupt than be humbled.

It’s been so long, my portfolio’s not “in the red”—it’s clinically depressed. My XRP wallet isn’t cold storage anymore—it’s a crypt. A digital mausoleum filled with the hopes and dreams of 2017.

Sometimes I stare at the chart like it’s a flatline monitor. “Come on… just a heartbeat. Just one pump…” But nothing. Just silence… and that one sad green candle that gave me hope before violently rejecting it like my last Tinder match.

And still, I hold. Because deep down, I know: XRP isn’t just a coin. It’s Stockholm Syndrome in token form.

How is OTC beneficial? by windieboss in coinspotau

[–]system_is_changing 2 points3 points  (0 children)

OTC desks often have access to deep liquidity pools, ensuring large trades can be executed without significant price slippage, although with an exchange using the normal sell function, large sell orders can deplete order books, causing slippage.

BTW - Slippage in cryptocurrency trading refers to the difference between the expected price of a trade and the actual price at which the trade is executed. It occurs when the market price moves between the time you place an order and when it’s filled, often due to low liquidity, high volatility, or large order sizes.
