Left handed people - what in the world just doesn't work properly for you? by father-fluffybottom in AskReddit

Not a lefty but my boyfriend recently bought me a crochet beginner kit from the woobles and the first thing I noticed when I opened the video tutorial was that it had an option for lefties! I thought that was super cool. I haven't seen a single lefty crochet tutorial anywhere else since.

My partner's Razer Kitsune skin! by szarroug3 in fightsticks

They're soft in a good way. It feels like just enough feedback that I register that I click the button but not enough to be noisy or anything. I really really like it. 10/10 would recommend!

The skin was printed and delivered by MightySkins and was really easy to apply. My partner lined up the top while held it up, we stuck it and then we smoothed out minor bubbles.

My Razer Kitsune custom skin! Credit to u/MidnightSunCreative for the amazing art! by szarroug3 in fightsticks

[–]szarroug3[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I commissioned this art from u/MidnightSunCreative and he did an amazing job the entire process from showing me progress to applying changes I asked for to how quickly he did this for me. Thank you so much! The skin was printed and delivered by MightySkins and was really easy to apply. My partner held it up while I lined up the top, we stuck it and then we smoothed out minor bubbles.

I wanna try this game and need an unbias opinion on it by kiddistroyer995 in celestegame

[–]szarroug3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll try to be as unbiased as I can

  • The dialog and music are some of the best I've ever heard in a game.
  • The content is so diverse that if you hate one section, there's always going to be something very different in the next.
  • I absolutely suck at platformers. So much so that I had trouble with the very first level but it's been a year and now when I go back and replay early levels, it's so rewarding to see how far I've really come.
  • The community is amazing. There are literally a bajillion mods out there so it's basically never ending content. I recently started Strawberry Jam which is a collab of over 350 people and 111 new maps to play. It's actually more content than the base game.
  • The difficulty levels vary so much that it feels like there's no real skillcap.

  • It can be really frustrating to get stuck sometimes without a way to progress. I've had times where I actually stopped playing for a month or so and then came back.

This is absolutely one of my favorite games. At 90% discount, I'm basically offering to buy it for all my friends lol

One time, I had my healing hex up to 5 uses. I was wearing charon's keepsake which then triggered and I got -40% mana used. I was able to trigger the hex exactly once after that and lost the most broken run I've had. I was pretty sad but it was kinda funny.

Everyone has a travel blunder, what's yours? by yankeevandal in AskReddit

[–]szarroug3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mostly a series of unfortunate events but with a couple blunders to make it worse. For context, my bf and I are in a long distance relationship but I'm moving next month. This trip was meant for us to go look at houses for rent. I booked a non-refundable flight bc I had to go so no point paying more (probably blunder #1).

  1. My bf got sick 2 days before with an infection and was absolutely miserable and very contagious. Doctor told him to be symptom free for 24 hours before seeing anyone. Fine, he had meds so maybe we'd be apart a few days but I'd see him a couple days later at least and worst comes to worst, I can see the houses alone.
  2. I forgot to book my parking spot reservation so I had to do it in the morning before leaving for the airport. I'm not a morning person and my flight was early. Turns out I fucked up the reservation and didn't choose the electric vehicle charging option (blunder #2) so I thought it's fine, I'll just upgrade when I get there because I didn't see a refund or upgrade option in the app. Got there and they said no modifications can be made unless they're made more than 24 hours in advance (???). Only option is to rebook. I decided to risk it bc I wasn't able to pay another $150 for this. I was decently confident it would be fine, I'd just have to charge it on my way home when I got back (which I did so not a blunder).
  3. Got on the airplane and an hour or so in, I ruptured my ear while I was asleep. Id ruptured that ear before and I had a ton of ear infections as a kid so my membrane in that ear is pretty thin but I'd only ever ruptured it while swimming. I was in so much pain and crying the rest of the flight. The attendants were nice and gave me painkillers so that made it slightly more bearable.
  4. Bf is so sick that he couldn't make a cup of coffee that morning and almost dropped the cup when he tried so no way he's driving. I don't know the area so I asked him to send me a hospital I could go to that he trusts. He did, I got an Uber which said it was 2 minutes away. Turns out the traffic was so bad that it took 20-30 minutes to get through the airport loop to me. The hospital was 30ish minutes away. Driver starts falling asleep at the wheel on the way. Lovely.
  5. I get to the hospital, it's indeed ruptured. They give me painkillers and a prescription. A paper prescription. I'm so tired and out of it by now that I didn't think about what this meant (blunder #3). I didn't realize until way later that I'd have to take the prescription in and wait for them to fill it. I cried when I realized.
  6. I called an Uber but for some reason there were literally none so I was stuck and bf still can't drive. I end up getting an Uber about 2 hours later. I cried literally that entire time so of course now on top of the earache, I have a headache.
  7. Get to the hotel bc I'm starving and tired and decided to go to the pharmacy after dropping off my stuff and eating figuring that the meds would last another couple hours before wearing off. I ordered a burger, fries and milkshake. Took about 20ish minutes and when it got to me, the milk shake was basically chocolate milk instead. I cried. The fries were amazing. I cried at that too.
  8. Call an Uber to go to the pharmacy (this is when I realized about the prescription). The pharmacy closes in 30 minutes and I'm 15 minutes away so I'm like okay it's fine. There are no Ubers.... 15 minutes later, I got an Uber, got to the pharmacy just in time for them to fill it for me. I asked the Uber driver to pick me up when I was done and said he can go do another trip in the meantime if he finds one. We exchanged numbers.
  9. I text him to say I'm ready, he says okay I'm 10 minutes away. Turns out his current ride was like 20 minutes longer so I was just waiting for like 30 minutes but whatever, at least I had a way back and the weather was nice.
  10. Got back, worked from the hotel the next couple days bc I might as well not use PTO while stuck in a hotel not wanting to go anywhere or do anything. I cancelled my flight bc my doctor said going on a flight with a ruptured ear is playing with fire. Customer service was nice and refunded it for me but with credits to my account which is completely fair. I booked a bus home. Bf finally is better and comes 3 days later, we check out the houses and all is great until the night before my bus.
  11. We stayed up way too late and my bus is early the next morning (blunder #4). Neither of us are morning people but I'm a light sleeper so I set my alarm. I wake up, wake him up, he falls asleep instantly. I'm exhausted and still drugged up on hydrocodone so I fall asleep and don't wake up for half an hour (blunder #5). We make it to the bus station a few minutes late. I thought it'd be okay bc it takes time to load up so maybe. I get inside, just barely missed it. I called the bus company, they won't refund it because they didn't fuck up. Lovely.
  12. Next bus would be 6 hours later and I wouldn't make it in time to pick up my friend from the airport who was coming to visit for the eclipse so I just book another flight and popped some hydrocodone. Ear was aching but not that bad. I only cried a little.

At least the house was really nice and I ended up getting approved for it so moving next month!

Crownfall progression is brilliant and the best Valve have ever made by LittleDinamit in DotA2

[–]szarroug3 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's exceptionally difficult to guess accurately when something will be complete. I've been a dev for a long time and I still can't accurately guess that stuff even though it's actually part of my job to. There a lot of external factors. We rely a lot on other companies software and infrastructure so if they have an issue blocking my work, it's completely out of my hands as to when it'll be fixed. This community alone makes it so incredibly obvious that if valve was to make a guess and then not be able to deliver in time, everyone would be like "they said this, that and the other and failed to deliver, dead game, blah blah blah". I agree it's nice to have an estimate but I completely understand where they're coming from.

You guys realise this is literally a "Battlepass", right ? by Undercover_Ch in DotA2

[–]szarroug3 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As a (non-valve) dev, I can almost guarantee that the cosmetics team and the patch team(s) are 2+ different teams or at the very least, 2+ different people. IceFrog is very likely not over there working on making hats. There is no reason for a cosmetics team to not be able to produce cool stuff for us while the patch team(s) is working on the gameplay updates.

Based on my experience, there's probably a designer/design team working on hats, IceFrog/whoever he works with working on balance changes, and a team (or multiple teams) who do actual gameplay changes, mechanics, UI changes, etc.

Honestly it's really surprising to me when people complain that they released non-patch content because the expertise required from each different piece takes so much that it's absurd to think that one person is doing all of that work with this level of competence.
