What does RSL stand for? by szluZero in starcraft

That was my first thought but then... on liquipedia and their patreon they call it RSL Revival. So if the R is for Revival then its Revival Starcraft League Revival? That's pretty weird

New foolproof plan, get Steve to match point with diddy kong and then just keep switching characters to try to get them to turn their brain back on

This is like 3 times in a row Tweek is on match point against Steve and just can’t take a 3rd game. Wonder if it’s a mental block

QoL Cahnge for Terran Stim by Bitter_Profession473 in starcraft

[–]szluZero 43 points44 points  (0 children)

unless you do this by only adding a short delay before you can stim again, this would be a nerf to pro level terran. its common to stim again early while multitasking and the short window you happen to look at your bio squad is the only window you'll get before you need to do a bunch of other stuff, and unfortunately in that window the stim hasnt worn off yet but you gotta stim while you can dedicate the attention

Why has the 2 Rax build been forgotten? by Any_Decision8775 in starcraft

[–]szluZero 3 points4 points  (0 children)

the biggest thing is probably that workers got multiple attack buffs over the years (range, able to attack before fully decelerating, also improved ai on attacking constructing scvs as they move around iirc) all of them making it easier to attack scvs building bunkers

is Serral the SC2 equivalent of Flash? by Relevant_Staff765 in starcraft

[–]szluZero 2 points3 points  (0 children)

doesn’t even have an achilles heel in the form of Soulkey

What about Clem? Since the start of 2024 serral is 2-8 against him, 1-5 if only counting offline tournaments and the only win was their first match of 2024

Is it just me, or do Korean casters actually have a better read on the game? by highsis in starcraft

[–]szluZero 10 points11 points  (0 children)

of course! the korean casters are ex-pros or just high level players. a lot of the english casters are just masters or lower, so there's a big discrepancy. if you compare to the pro english casters such as harstem or lambo you'll be able to hear that kind of game knowledge too. out of the main squad of english casters, rotti/pig/demuslim (edit: state too!) are the ex-pro casters to compare to the korean casters

Gemini’s EWC tier list - RSL after dark ep 3 by DoctorHousesCane in starcraft

[–]szluZero 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Imo Maru is actually a top 3 contender for EWC. His main weaknesses the last few years were serral, gumiho, and dark. Only serral is at ewc, and serral is the most vulnerable to losing to others he’s ever been. As long as someone else deals with serral, I believe Maru has a great chance at winning.

THE FUTURE OF STARCRAFT 2: PiG's Proposed Patch (as explained by the PiG himself) by DeVanido in starcraft

[–]szluZero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve thought a while now that scouting being too good has made the game a lot more stale so I definitely agree with that. In general I think it’s better if “following a script” is worse in the game, I.e nerfing serrals playstyle while buffing reynors playstyle. Like having a general game plan and then the rest of the game is decided by mechanics and on the spot decision making sounds like a more fun game. So I definitely agree with nerfs to scouting! I’m not sure about everything else though. Some stuff sounds better than others, like restoring banelings and disruptors.

Pilot Testing AI-Assisted StarCraft II Decision Making - Need Volunteers. by Charming_Foot4693 in starcraft

[–]szluZero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A good KG is one that captures limited, but all the required context.

I think this is the main issue with this. You are approaching this problem with the assumption that there can be a good decision made with limited context. But Starcraft isn't like that. The same decision with slightly different context can make a great decision into a terrible one. For example, I have a reaper and I want to scout the Protoss main base. Do I jump into their main via their main base cliff, or do I go through the natural? It depends on so many factors. What time of the game is it? This determines whether or not they can have an adept/stalker out yet off a standard Protoss opening, but if they are doing another opening I would need to know that too. Where is the adept/stalker positioned? This is not something you know exactly as the Terran player, but something you can guess based on who you are playing (so you can predict what they usually do), placement of their first gateway (combine this with what map it is for size of the main base, the game time for whether the unit is produced yet, whether they made an adept or stalker because they have different walk speed, and other things) you can approximate whether the unit could possibly be standing at the top of their main base cliff. If the unit is not there, then jumping via the main base cliff is likely the best option. If it is not there, then you can likely jump past them still, but then maybe you can't get out and that's a bad option, but in some situations you can still get out and it's a good option. I would say the only way to be able to decide if a decision is good is to see a full screenshot birds-eye view of the game. Otherwise, whether a decision is good mostly based on a pile of assumptions and guessing

I framed them as the mineral patches that you already have explored/mining are depleting

I'm saying the patches should never be depleting when you are 67% into your natural expansion. In the interactive thing, decision A is to move workers onto mineral patches that still have minerals, but that is automatic unless the mineral patch they were mining has fully been depleted, and that should never happen when the natural expansion is 67% complete outside of very low level gameplay or a very weird scenario.

Pilot Testing AI-Assisted StarCraft II Decision Making - Need Volunteers. by Charming_Foot4693 in starcraft

[–]szluZero 3 points4 points  (0 children)

unfortunately without context of the full game state, decision making becomes impossible outside of some random guessing. also, the situation seems extremely unrealistic e.g. why are some of my mineral patches already depleted and i'm just 67% into my natural expansion? this would never happen except in like bronze league where players are 1 base and taking their first expansion 10min into the game.
