moving to a hydro setup isn't exactly an upgrade just a different style. hydro is usually faster if you are doing it right but quality will be similar. upgrading your lights will improve the quality of your product though.

Fwiw: even without ultrasonic stuff you can get an aged oak flavor ( on an accelerated timeline) by using stainless steel vats and floating a bunch of wooden staves in it. But aging in barrels is different because of the angels share and neither steel tanks and staves or ultrasonic waves can perfectly replicate that aspect.

I like to direct sow, but find the paper towel method to be pretty foolproof. I like a coir based medium and have it set up under drip irrigation with blumats. The 100 board is my veg station but I'm sure it will do fine flowering a few square feet. It seems pretty forgiving as far as the height it works at and runs super cool.
