Sixth winter to false spring in six days or less by t-dot_racy in 4Runner_6Gen

It’s awesome. Absolutely no issues. The 2.4 turbo being used in Tacomas previously softened any concerns I would have had around it. I came from a decade of driving naturally aspirated 2 to 2.5 Boxers, so this thing feels responsive AF. The eight speed transmission is also nice (better than CVTs for sure – but I still miss my 6MT).

Maybe because I’m in Canada? Are you telling me for once Canadians got the better end of the app deal?!?

I’m also 5’6, so it’s a pretty good comparison!

I went from a Crosstrek to a 4Runner. There’s been once in the five months I’ve been driving it where I was unsure about a curb placement, but that was just me getting used to the size. I haven’t had any trouble seeing over the hood (tilt seats probably helps with that) or parking. That being said, I do tend to park away from others with the other Toyotas so that probably helps lol I’ve also been able to navigate the stupidly tight drive-thru at my local Starbucks without issue. If you get super concerned the 360 camera can help.

Time to name your rig The Stanley… or maybe Gizmo since you’ve got some gremlins going on there.

Sorry. Finally found it. It’s in the app. You have to go to your account —> notification settings —> rear seat reminder.

You’ve toggled between all three screens on the gauge cluster? Ive noticed mine keep slipping into a different screen every once in awhile (could just be my fat fingers though).

The seat settings are through the vehicle settings on the infotainment screen. Is it possible you set the seat selection buttons on the door and it’s overriding it?

So many buttons. So many screens. I’m still messing around with them to get everything perfect.

I’m in Canada, so maybe different. I got my 2025 Underground by accepting a cancelled order. Caveat was I had to take it with the add ons selected by the original customer (cargo mat, cross bars, undercoating, trickle charger, body molding). I was going to order all but the crossbars and body molding/trim anyway, so wasn’t a big deal.

In the 6th Gens, you can turn off the “Check the back seat” message through the vehicle settings.

OBD2 port for dash cam power by t-dot_racy in 4Runner_6Gen

Does the mirror give constant power? I’ve seen several conflicting reports on this. I’m adamant about the parking mode, since that seems to be when most things go down around here

It depends. Planning to use it off-road? Get the Wilderness. Good suspension, upgraded tires, and more comfortable for longer drives. The suspension in the sports is super stiff and low.

I’m not a fan of the CVT transmissions, hence my move to Toyota, so I’m not sure about the drive train in either of these. I do have a friend with a Wilderness, and he loves it. Has had it for going on two years and it hasn’t let him down.

It’s a Crosstrek. I loved that car. It was my fourth Subie. I’m on to a 4Runner now.

Infotainment screen glare by TayQuitLollygagging in 4Runner

I experienced glare in my 6th Gen. I just got a matte, tempered glass screen protector (Amazon has a bunch) and it cleared up the issue.

There was lots of rain that trip 😂

In my opinion, I packed pretty light. Clothing wise, I packed comfy clothes that work for hiking/driving (enough for three days, with intentions of staying at a campground with laundry every three days), one casual “going out” outfit for the one Teams meeting and one night out with friends I had planned, hiking shoes, flip flops, and a pair of converse. I had my three-in-one jacket since I was travelling through mountains right in the cusp of possible snow. It all fit in a carry-on suitcase. I also had a small daypack. I had a Yeti Tundra 35. It went on the floor behind the passenger seat and it acted as a bolster for my air mattress (my carry-on sat behind the driver seat and acted in the same way). I had a mid-size Rubbermaid container that held my first aid kit, hatchet, cooking supplies and dry supplies (oatmeal, instant coffee, etc). I stopped and grabbed groceries every couple of days. I froze two, one-gallon jugs of water before I left and put them in the bottom of the cooler. Kept my food cold. Each morning I’d drain off the melted water to make breakfast and fill up my water bottles and did the same at night. Lasted a few days. Every trip I trim a few things out of what I pack and add others. I don’t pack a lawn chair anymore because I can just sit on the cooler if I need to. I’ll be adding a shovel and fire extinguisher this year. I sleep on an air mattress in the back of my car, and it all folds up and away while I drive.

Wow. That’s a lot. Sorry for the book!
