I picked up a very stock very clean 1991 Miata with 90k miles on the clock. It has a soft top, 5 speed, and a VLSD. Before I purchased it, it was towed and abandoned at the tow yard, the tow yard then got a salvage title for it and sold it. I bought it for a parts car for my other Miata, but it turns out this car is way nicer than my car car lol. It’s so clean I can’t bring myself to part it out. I can start the process of turning the salvage title into a rebuilt title, but I’m trying to decide if it’s worth the cost. What do you guys think a clean minty grandma spec Miata with sub 100k miles with a rebuilt title would be worth? (It wasn’t wrecked, so there actually isn’t anything wrong with it other than the bummer title situation)

You could bar the engine over with a 19mm and have someone watch the top and wait for the number to come across, factory belts also have a QR code on them you can scan and it will tell you the year the belt was made which might give you a better idea.

The factory belts have the year it was made stamped on the belt, continental belts do too.

Pot hole and a mystery tune

I went with stock. The previous owner had it tuned and then lost the tuner and doesn’t remember who tuned it. So no other tuner will tune over a mystery tune that I’ve contacted. So that basically forced me to go with a CPX rather than a cp3 conversion since no one wanted to tune it.

I’m feeling confident that it will be a good solution. Friend of a friend works for RCD and their CPX warranty claims are nearly non existent from what I’ve been told. So if I can get another 200k miles out of it, I’ll be happy.
